Finally finished my mood avatar set, all images are from El Chavo del Ocho.

critique/suggestions/reactions welcome, since I think some of these don't fit very well. Anything else related is also welcome. Any other mood avatar you have to show is also welcome. Being welcome is also welcome!

EDIT THE THIRD: Just go to this page instead to view them. The rest of the old post is here:

I remember having a Windows ME installation alongside Windows XP quite a few years ago. Somehow it worked quite well? I had to change the BIOS to boot the secondary hard drive however, whenever I wanted to use it (and change back afterwards to normal). Then afterwards I had to remove the 10GB extra HDD from the computer (wow, was that so long ago? I don't remember the year exactly, but it must've been 2011 or something) and lost Windows ME because of it. I think that was the last time I ever used Windows 9x.

Virtual machines sound like fun, maybe I'll mess with something later.

It's been rainy and cold here, around 10-15ºC. Not complaining. Sometimes during the day it raises to +20ºC however.

Sure, when you have the resources to spend on extra hardware, but have fun installing an ancient OS into a completely incompatible machine. Yes, that happens sometimes since some hardware pieces don't have drivers compatible with those systems anymore.

Example: I had to switch internet cards once I switched my Win7 install from a 32-bit to a 64-bit one, simply because there never was a 64-bit driver for that card.

The news and also their stance on ads.

I think this is the first major browser company to do this. Not that Midori didn't include it first (and probably others before it). They argue that they offer this service to reduce loading times and bandwith, as ads are very bloated nowadays. I kind of agree, but sometimes it doesn't hurt to have ads on a website (it supports whitelisting). It has been received well, but those that didn't like it really didn't like it.

What do you guys think about this? Honestly, I like it.

I was thinking that this was the perfect opportunity to rename the IRC to RustedlogicNET or something. But I understand why not to do it, technically you guys still have the real Badnik IRC network.

I wonder what is going to happen to Sonic Retro though. This all seems like a big mess.

Posted on 06-25-16 07:41:00 PM, in I don't think the youtube embed works anymore. (last edited by RanAS at 06-30-16 04:42:10 PM) Link
Bumping this because I'm trying to see if it's possible to implement the YouTube embed BBCode thing, so the awful old embed code isn't needed anymore. In theory, this will work like [youtube](video ID here)[/youtube]. All edits would be done to function.php on the GitHub page.

Of course, you guys probably know that I don't know PHP, so I'm left with guessing to see if this code even works. Because of that, I think it's a good idea to post this here before suggesting it on GitHub, so people can see if I made any mistakes with the code.

I would implement it using something like this at LINE 538:

$msg=preg_replace("'\[youtube\]^[a-zA-Z0-9_-]{11}$\[/youtube\]'si", '<iframe src=\"https://www.youtube.com/embed/\\1\" style=\"width:480;height:270;\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen></iframe>', $msg)

And replacing the filter at LINE 1297 with this:

$p=preg_replace("'<iframe(?! src=\"https://www.youtube.com/embed/)'si",'<<z>iframe',$p)

In order to ignore YouTube embed links.

Well, either way, nice to see the server has its own name now, I kinda like the new name. It also has a webpage but I think it won't be a good idea to visit it for a while I guess. Hooray for Badnik ZONE Act 2!

Hopefully we won't have an Act 3. I don't to meet Robotnik IRL.

Nothing is going to happen to the old YouTube embeds probably unless people decide to filter out <object> tags, which I ain't doing currently with that code. It kinda sucks that old embeds will just look crappy, but I think it would take even longer to actually replace them all with the new one.

And yes, if it works, it will be as simple as [youtube](video ID here)[/youtube] to implement the new HTML5 videos.

The suggested code uses ^[a-zA-Z0-9_-]{11}$. I assume there's a difference on how both work. I would try to confirm it to see if that is the correct code, with the extra symbols, but there are so many conflicting sources it's a little confusing.

Ah, that makes sense.

About the pull request thing, no problem really. Given that A. I know next to nothing about PHP and B. security problems are possible, I can very easily understand.

That said, I'm still looking at the code to see if I missed anything, or where things could go wrong, and I don't think I see any. If this is how Acmlmboard works:
1) run the bbcode/etc filters on the post content and layout
2) generate the HTML for the complete post
3) run the security filter on that HTML

Then everything should be safe I think. The first line detects the BBCode and converts it to the HTML, and at the security filter an exception is made to the HTML that contains <iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/[etc...] and only that can pass the filter, so that should work unless \\1 doesn't catch the video ID for some reason? srcdoc can't be abused, because the filters catch anything in it either way (tested it).

A long time later, this thread is more or less abandoned.

Well, the main reason I'm posting here isn't really to show off my layout (believe it or not), but more something that I just recently realized. My layout is very similar to AB's original background. That was not my intention when making it, seriously. I was just messing with the repeating background property and this is the best result I got. Not that I'm complaining, this layout actually looks nice. Maybe a little to monochromatic, eh.

In other news, anyone here messed with the CSS3 Flexbox? It's something I discovered in my small trip to learn more about HTML/CSS. You can easily align divisions (<div>) and use it in so many interesting ways. You can create double signatures, side boxes, floating items that don't break everything, etc. It's very neat to say the least.

Lots of varied stuff the past week.

Non-VGM:
Mostly ApproachingNirvana songs, Exhilarate, I Dream of Ibiza, Chasing Winter, Current (this one specially), etc.
Also a few other random ones, like Pump Up The Jam (thanks Girlydragon for reminding me of this song on another thread).

VGM:
Mario Golf - Toadstool Tour: ex. 1 2 3
Hebereke's Popoitto (SNES): How the heck do I even know this game is beyond me.
Mario Party 3: Mostly the mini-game songs.

IIRC AB1.92 has always been distributed as-is, and with next to no support or installer of any kind, so there never was one. If you want to install it successfully, you'll have to look at a further version like 2.5.x or one of the many forks/derived versions, like BoardC.

Although maybe someone could help you, it'll probably not be as simple as running an installer.
