So, I was going to install Windows 10 but, seems like the download file isn't just 2GB, it's closer to 20GB. I've wasted an entire day just trying to download the 2GB, I can only imagine how much time it would take to download ten times as many files.

I've thought a little bit more about it, and I decided I won't be updating to Windows 10, at least not for now. Maybe it's for the better. I'll just tinker with the Windows 7 settings to see if runs a little faster, I probably need to do some cleaning. Otherwise, that's it.

Huh, looks very neat actually. Good job! I would approve of an image generator for this, 'cause why not?

I remember there's a copy of "This thread fails" in here (as in, in this very website).

Soooo...I guess that's something.

There's many pictures in the /images/ directory too. I'm surprised it doesn't give me a 403 error.

I feel like these still could be useful.

Can't we replace all images from ImageShack with this or something of the sort?

Now, I don't have anything to say about my experience with Super Mario Maker, because it is non-existant so far, but I must say, this game is getting a lot of attention. I already know of a few people who bought a Wii U just to play this game, and I've also heard people talking about it in school (which is weird because they generally only care about PS/Xbox). This game is definitely getting attention on the internet too.

I feel like Super Mario Maker has the potential to be one of the main titles of the Wii U, if it isn't already. Who knows, there's a chance Nintendo might actually make the Wii U start selling more now if they are smart. The Wii U hasn't been that successful so far, but hope is the last thing to die. I can already see it passing the Xbox One sales at the very least.

Oh, and by the way, here are the current console sales, taken from this website, last updated on August 29th:

I can't confirm the accuracy of this graph anywhere else though, so there's that too.

If Mario Maker really is that great, who knows?

I would really like to create some levels for it too, but unfortunately I can't do that for a while.

Wait, people still use ImageShack? I thought everyone in here left it a while ago, which is why I thought it would be a good idea to just replace the old images with something else. Since they're already in a 404 state it wouldn't make a difference, it would just remove those annoying ImageShack ads.

...why are people still using ImageShack again? If you want to use a better image service, I recommend Imgur. It might be a little weird to get used to, but once you do it works wonderfully.

Well, your layout certainly looks nice. I feel like there's a few missing things though. The text shadow looks fair, but I can't say much about it because text-shadow is an annoying property to get good results out of, at least for me. Good job, though! It certainly matches the monochromatic theme.

So, I randomly thought, "Wouldn't DCK3's overworld be a great image to use in a layout?". This is the end result. Unfortunately the image available on the internet is too low-resolution and I have no idea how to rip the overworld from the ROM itself. If you couldn't tell, this is a test layout, but it does look nicer than I thought it would look like.

By the way, soon it'll be the 9th anniversary of DCK3 and the 5th one of the GBA port. The more you know!

EDIT: 19th anniversary of the SNES one, not 9th. Apperently I can't count.

Just a few days ago I found out about DCK3's soundtrack differences in the SNES and the GBA, and I thought I'd post it here, but then I saw that you all already discussed this earlier and I just completely glanced over it. Hoooray.

It's not like the discussion is a few months old or anything, right? Oh it is. Darn.

Both OSTs have goods and bads. The original is very atmospheric, creating a very unique ambience to DKC3. The bad about it is that, some if not all of the songs are somewhat bland. The GBA one is magical and wonderful, creating various different atmospheres through the entire game, but then you lose the theme of what's supposed to be DCK3 once the songs don't fit very well with each other and the game itself.

Rockface Rumble
SNES
GBA

Treetop Tumble
SNES
GBA

Boss Boogie
SNES
GBA

Water World
SNES
GBA

Rockface Rumble is a great example, along with Cascade Capers (in another post). The SNES version matches a theme, while keeping the tracks different, while the GBA ones separate the themes, making something that sounds way better, but overall doesn't match the game. If you look through the comments of the GBA version of Treetop Tumble, you can see some people saying that it's a good song, but it doesn't match with one stage in particular.
"Stilt Village" is probably one of the only tracks in the original that doesn't fit the series that well, and personally I think a lot of the GBA version's themes don't really fit it any better. Most of DKC3's soundtrack was cool and atmospherical in a really similar way to DKC1's, I think.

At the same time, if you compare Water World for example, you can see how much more alive the GBA soundtrack is. I'll admit it, I listened to the GBA Water World through the entire 30m loop and afterwards I still hit replay. It is that good, but I also listen to the SNES version of the same song, as depressing as the song is, it's a good song too, just not in the same way.

Overall, it really just comes down to preference. I listen to both OSTs because each one is good on their own way. I feel bad when someone just completely glances over the GBA OST saying it's bad, because it is good, but the same goes for the SNES one.

New ones:
Sonic 1. I don't like it very much. The first one I played was Sonic & Knuckles, and then afterwards the other ones. I played all of then a few times and I realized how they were great games, but after a while, I felt like there was something missing in Sonic 1. That should be understandable, since it's an earlier game. I dunno, maybe I got sick of playing Sonic 1? If that's the case then that's weird, because I still enjoy playing Sonic 2 and 3.

I never understood the hype about the Sonic Adventure games. I have played then and it just doesn't feel right, like some sort of predecessor to Sonic '06. At least this doesn't feel like a too unpopular of an opinion.

I prefer Super Mario 64 DS over Super Mario 64, because overall the game feels more complete (like it should), even if the controls are sligthly more weird.

Posted on 10-17-15 02:02:27 PM, in It's Rhyme Time Link
So I was going to test to see how Jul looks with Internet Explorer 5 by using the F12 button in Internet Explorer 11 and switching the mode to IE5, when I suddenly had the brilliant (and stupid) idea of making rhymes related to this. This is the end result (there will probably be engrish in the text below):

"IE5's test with rhymes"
So I just thought of making a fun stop
At the normal and cranky IE5 shop
It's a weird place to be, decorated with trees
HTML trees that are as bad as those stinging bees.

"But wait!" You might ask, why would I unmask
The terrible code, oh why do such a task?
I'll tell you right now, there's nothing to bestow
This isn't IE5 after all!

It is IE11 with the code from heaven
That allows me to lessen
The quality of the browser I'm using.

It goes as far as the earliest star
Versions 5, 7, 8, it could be an IE bar
At least there's no IE6, as it would be confusing.

I must say, it isn't as bad
I thought it would be more rad
There's just some glitches here and there
That you'd probably not want to care.

The weird thing is, in this stupid abyss
I've wasted more time than I could reminisce
I should just quit right now, while I'm ahead
But c'mon, this is me, RanAS.
You know I can be weird from what I've already said
Even if it just would be best if I just fled
Wouldn't it?

Yep, that happened.

...so, I thought a little bit about it and, if anyone wants to post more rhymes in here feel free to do it.

I wonder how crazy this can get.

Just so you guys know, I haven't played Undertale. I have heard many good things about it, some bad things about it too, and overall: I don't know.

I remember hearing about that. So, let me get this straight: when you create a new file it remembers some things that you've done on a previous file? If so, that's dumb. Very, very dumb.

I would understand it if it was something like New Game+ or if it was something that happened when you got a game over or started again from the same file, but it doesn't make much sense to continue it on to other files. That is breaking the fourth wall.

But, you know, when 90% of the responses to what you're saying are vitriolic knee-jerk hatred regardless of how well you explained your points, there's not much encouragement to learn how to explain yourself rather than just hide.

I know that problem. It's cause is so complicated to understand, most people just call it "Welcome to the internet, the place where your opinions are invalid."

In most places, there's an argument going on. Sometimes, there's two sides: a majority and a minority. If that's the case, then something interesting happens: if someone says something that expresses the opinion of the minority towards the majority, then the majority feels the right to call that person a troll and completely ignore their argument. Of course that's not always the case, but it is something that happens commonly enough to be addressed. One good and recent example is the Jimmy Kimmel vs. YouTube Gaming thing.

This isn't really relevant, it's just that, if there's a good amount of people that like something, you'll start to see people who believe everyone not only will but should like it too, which is dumb, but it is true.

Oh, that makes more sense...but wait, now I'm confused. So, it does'nt affect the game significantly? It's just a few references? I thought it would be to the level where some story/areas (or whatever is in Undertale) change based on your previous playthroughs.

I don't mind much about New Game+. It's a nice feature. It can be fun.

Yes. That is a thing the game does. It is very much intentional, and just one of the many things that sets the game apart from everything else out there.

You guys are treating this like it's supposed to be Just Another RPG™ and it's not. It is TRYING to be different, to mess with your expectations.

Hey, I don't have any problems with fourth wall breaks as long they're done in a good way. Perspective (the DigiPen video game) is a good example, plus it's one of my favorite games. It also tries to mess with your expectations, probably not in the same way that Undertale does, but still. P.T. also does that, and it's also a good game.

If you really have a problem with this, delete all the save and configuration files and start over. Contrary to popular belief, the game doesn't modify your registry or drop secret cookies in your boot sector or anything.

Do you have to delete the files in order to stop the references? Would've been nice to have an option for that, but I guess if it's only that problem it doesn't matter too much.

...I've never played Undertale and I'm trying to understand how the game works. I think I might be doing it wrong.

I guess it's good enough for now at least.

Posted on 11-29-15 07:58:06 PM, in Analog Radio Link
Oh, so I figured I should tell you guys about this. In my most recent misadventures of not having a computer for a few days, I decided to test the Radio app on my new phone. I was amazed to see that there were 50+ analog radio stations in here!

I mean, of course I had to iron out the garbage ones, figuratively and literally at that, since a few of them were just static. Not counting the ~10 religious radio stations (they're worse than you think), there's quite a few interesting ones. Of course most are dedicated to popular music (which means REPEAT REPEAT REPEAT) but there's a few others that have rock music, '90s music, other regional-type music, etc. There's even one dedicated to classical music, which is neat, but I don't see myself using it that often.

There's also the, relatively few, sports and news ones, but overall, not bad. I even listened to Two Door Cinema Club - What You Know for the first time, and it's now a song that I'm listening to a lot. One of my favorites.

I didn't originally post in this topic because I didn't even understand what was digital radio exactly. I thought it had something to do with AM vs FM, which would be more understandable since I don't see people using AM that oftenly anymore. I don't know how the switch to digital radio will work. It's not happening in the near future here, I can say this for sure, but it feels weird.

Overall, the radio is not all that great, I still don't see myself listening to it that often, but it's a nice thing to listen to every once in a while.

Fun fact: I typed this entire thing on mobile earlier today and I accidentally deleted it all. This is my second attempt at writing this.

In the end, that's what they want, right? It's a free update, so accidentally or not, it'll get them more Windows 10 users. It's not really fair, but in the end, unless a user's installation goes wrong, it's not likely they'll get any complaints, much less people going through the trouble of reverting back to Windows 7 or 8.1.

I personally saw two different installations of Windows 10, one that went right and the other that went horribly wrong. Thankfully, they managed to fix the corrupted installation, but still. Windows 10 has gotten better but it's still not quite there. I recommend waiting just a little longer, we have until June 2016 after all.

I was right! That SWF did have spooky scary dancing skeletons!

Although I imagined it differently, but whatever. I still imagined the right thing!

I made some posts because I forgot that I had an account...maybe that can help?

Yep, that'll help for the time being. I already see more posts being made in general.

I needed a few translations for the Paper Mario TCRF article. I just need the title of the highlighted items:

For this one, I need the badge's title and the description translated:

That's all. Thanks in advance.

I don't know how to look at the raw text data, but I do know that it has no effect in-battle. It literally does nothing. :/

Either way, thanks for the translations Joe.
