I've been playing around with the FFV Anthology Walk Through Walls code recently. I was curious if there was a way you could get into the the room beyond Zeza in the Barrier Tower in World 2. If you go into the actual room where Zeza is, he blocks you from going any further. There's no exit/loading zone programmed in, so the door does nothing, even if you enter it from the other side.
If you look around the other maps by going through the walls, I believe you can actually get into the engine room, but nothing happens. Been a while since I looked through it, so I don't exactly remember.
Then when I played through the game earlier, I wondered if in World 3 at Tycoon Castle if Lenna, Faris, or the Chancellor say anything since you normally can't talk to them. There are people dancing and if you step on a certain tile to get to them, they'll rudely bump you out of the way. Well I found out that both Lenna and Faris will crash the game, but the Chancellor says something along the lines of "Don't worry about the castle, we'll keep it safe."
I'd be interested in looking at the other versions, but the PSX is the only one with the code, and it seems like they took everything the SFC game had and ported it all to the respective versions. So I'm thinking either way nothing new would come out of it. |

Looks like they left the demo camera in for the actual gameplay. Mine always went to Hammerhead, even when he was dead.
It seems this beta is the same as the one that was dumped on the internet a few years ago, which seems a few people have already done some work on discovering things about it.
Some things I noticed( Using ePSXe 1.9.0):
- The sound effect for selecting an option or backing out into the previous menu is different. The final sound effect has more of a deep rumble.
- No title music (though this may be because the music files are in .BIN format, and I didn't mount the CUE file through Daemon tools)
- None of the passwords for the retail version probably work. I tried all fo Axels and none of them worked. Then when I beat the San Fransisco level with Warthog, it gave me a password that wasn't in Gamefaq's password section.
- There are no credits yet.
- The title music plays in the background of the story FMV.
- If you try to go to the controller menu for either controller to look at the layouts, the game probably crashes. I say probably because I didn't wait for more than 10 seconds to see if it was going to do anything.
- After you let the demo run, if you go back into the options menu, the audio option will be hidden, though you can still access it.
- Game doesn't tell you where you're going once you're traveling across the globe.
- It seems they changed the cheat codes you can do in game for the final. I could only get drop mines, and reverse fire to work. Then I later found out the high jump code is the same as minion's special, just without the machine gun. It looks like the invincibility code works judging by a video I saw.
- Initial HUD is changed to weapons icon in the final
San Francisco:
- The cage where you would go to get the full health item is locked. You have to shoot it in order for it to open.
- It seems the health drops regenerate more in the beta. I know for sure the full health drop only appears once and doesn't regenerate. But you can go get it again in this version, and I'm sure you can only get the other ones less times in the final.
- There's a food stand near the Lightning Generator that's not present in the final.
Some of the character bios are different. Either they have a different name of the driver or a more grammatically correct backstory. Warthog has a different default picture than the one used in the final. His default in the beta is the same as the one of him being chosen. His chosen picture in the beta is a more darker version of the same beta default. Here's a imgur link to all of the beta character bios(not uploaded by me): http://imgur.com/a/bUsl4
It doesn't seem there were many noticeable differences between car models, except for Axel. He has a different texture for the man riding his vehicle than the final.
Then it looks like almost all the drivers had some re-adjusting before the final:
Roadkill:
-2 armor, -1 speed in final
J.D. vs Marcus
Twister:
+2 special, +1 speed
Andy Pearson vs Amanda Watts
Axel:
+1 armor, -1 special and speed
Mr. Slam:
+2 special, -1 speed
Shadow, Thumper
-1 armor
Hammerhead
-1 armor, -1 speed
Outlaw 2, Grasshopper:
-2 armor
Warthog
-1 armor, +1 special and speed
Col. Dawson vs Capt Rogers
Mr. Grimm
No Change in stats
Spectre:
-1 armor and speed
Alex Moore vs Ken

I doubt his method of finding Sweet tooth and Minion is accurate since he just loaded a save state from the retail version into the beta. The Game Shark codes above allow you to play as Sweet tooth, but he doesn't appear to have a model yet. Infact, If you let it sit in the demo long enough, you may see an invisible car fighting. |
