| Actually, there's been a lot of work done with KH1, mainly to aid in the creation of an English translation patch for Final Mix. Crazycatz00 did a ton of work on this and was able to fully reverse the hidden filesystem and compression/decompression algorithm. With his tools (found at http://crazycatz00.x10host.com/KH/), you can extract all files from a KH1US/KH1JP/KH1FM ISO to a folder and even patch files back in if needed.
Basically there is a file named "KINGDOM.IDX" on the root of the disc containing locations, lengths, hashed filenames, and other details about the hidden data on the disc. Inside you can find models, animations, textures, intro/ending videos, voice clips, level textures, level geometry... basically everything. Unfortunately, these all use proprietary formats and the model files are the only ones that are understood well. There are also ARD files inside, which contain additional assets unique to parts levels. They contain more models, cutscene audio (I believe), subtitle text, and possibly scripts as well. They start with an offset table that points to each of these "sections" located in the ARD. Crazycatzz made a script to edit cutscene text, but there's lots of other stuff in there. Anyway, hopefully that helps ![]() |
