That detail reminds me of the old times whenever COMODO issued certificates to fakeav makers. Secured payment pages for fakeav's weren't many IIRC but it was a fun surprise each time it happened.

Bonus points whenever these pages had ridiculous URLs.

Not really part of any fandoms, though I followed / lurked various "communities" without partecipating much.

The first big one for me (mid 2010?) was the "malware community" with danooct1 and/or rogueamp. Videos where interesting and in early 2012 I started following rogueamp as well (who at the time wasn't posting videos). I lurked on MalwareUp II, and then the danooct1 forums.
The fact that I keep a pretty big malware collection on my external HD says everything about this.

I also more or less follow the Sonic (hacking) community mostly around Sonic Retro & SSRG, respectively from 2012and 2013.

I made sure to never upgrade to G+ to see how far they'd go in pushing it to me. I kind of wanted to see what they'd take away after they restricted comments to G+ only.

Thankfully it never went beyond that, and at some point they restored the commenting functionality to non G+ accounts (which, IIRC, happened months after the day they stated that change would occur).

I've been meaning to get the fabled "WD NAS" device for a while now, similar to what Xkeeper bought months ago.

unfortunately a 4 bay NAS is still nowhere to be found in tech stores around here. the 2 bay diskless NAS is the only one I managed to see -- and so this boils down to doing online shopping.

while I could buy the EX4100 / 2x4TB model from Amazon, it still has a considerable price. for what I've seen, it seems that (at least for now) it may be cheaper to get the diskless variant from the WD store and two separate internal WD RED 4TB hard drives from elsewhere. I still need to investigate better on this...

but one thing is sure. as I currently don't have any internal hard drives with >= 4TB capacity, the price for two of those has to be in the total there somewhere

Until now, it's been... very weird.

It would get sunny at the morning, then turn cloudy and occasionally rain around the evening. The temperature wasn't that high either -- some days would had it ~21°C, which definitely isn't normal.

At least there were no hailstorms around this area. I sure can't say the same for other parts of Italy, oh boy.


Now it's supposed to be a proper summer thanks to an heat wave from Africa... but we'll see.

Never smoked tobacco and I absolutely don't ever intend to, if the smell of the smoke and several other details are of any indication.

I usually attempt to stay away from those smoking -- and if I can, I will avoid breathing when I have to get past an area of smokers.

Of course this doesn't always help. ie: when I'm at home and the smoke comes from outside. Oh well.


As for smoking anything else... well, it's pretty much the same thing. Except that I don't remember coming across anyone smoking something other than tobacco.

Yes, the graphics are custom. It wasn't too bad as the font I used had the card symbols. the card itself is a table with several CSS rules applied. this was before I knew about the world of relative positioning, so if I did that now I may have done it differently.

I'd say the biggest issue with creating this kind of stuff is... motivation! Then it's about the problems of creating games in PHP. The sequel to the card game, an UNO clone, got killed pretty early.

If I have to get actual art done, I resort to mspaint and I have done so several times already :V

huh and apparently, the card game is not quite compatible with PHP 7.2. entering an invalid code throws up a warning now

This dream started with me doing stuff at the computer downstairs, but it was running XP rather than 7.

At some point a program froze and so there was this annoying unmovable window covering the Start button. Of course, I did what I would usually do: firing up Task Manager, finding the offending process and killing it. When I did so, an error message appeared and at the same time the command prompt I had open in the background turned blue and showed text you would normally see in a BSOD.

This was perplexing.

After I eventually decided to close that message, the entire computer blue screened and shut down almost immediately. Trying to turn it on then wouldn't do anything, so after several attempts to do so I gave up and went upstairs.

I knew something was up -- there was no way something like that would have been possible. I almost suspected it was a dream, but of course I didn't quite reach the conclusion

...

well, I woke up not too long after, so I guess I did reach said conclusion quickly, just not in the way I originally thought

For a probably incomplete goal list, well...
  • Being more indipendent from my parents. This is already in progress a bit, as I have a job and my own (small) car. However, when it comes to having my own house, among other things the income I currently earn would get a bit in the way...
  • Actually buying a NAS so I won't have to juggle backups manually through the different external HDs. I've been meaning to buy a WD one for the past year or so but haven't gotten around to yet.
  • Making an archive of certain things public and getting to work on its second half
  • Finishing a very very WIP disassembly (ha) of a game that's very close to heart and documenting absolutely everything unused on its tcrf article, which is a monumental effort

I swear these reminded me at first of the MIDI renditions of the music found in S&KC, but after hearing those again I didn't hear that much of a similarity. Plus, the CD versions have a few extra sections compared to the normal in-game music, which is pretty neat.

Of note, I'd say the extra section from Lava Reef in particular very slightly reminded me of this.

another one in the Notepad++ club.

I discovered it thanks to HBCD using it as the default text editor, which was back around 2011-2012. So it's been a while.
I prefer things being accessible with a menu bar rather than having to memorize several button combinations.

After three failed iterarions, finally I managed to finish a complete disassembly of this game.

All of the code has been documented, including the unused/unreferenced ones, and all binary data was split.
It should build a bit perfect ROM as-is by running the included build script.

I've marked out things that are either unused, interesting/odd or outright bugs with the tags [TCRF], [POI] and [BUG].
There are quite a few of these things all over the place.

If you have suggestions or improvements to the naming conventions or file structure or see something that's incorrect, feel free to suggest anything and I'll see if it works out.
