the way I currently set it up is for powerlevel 1 or higher, mainly because of a certain mess I saw elsewhere where people were allowed complete control

but hey, it would give some more flexibility with how custom name colors are handled so it's not a completely negative misfeature for once

okay here we go

- Puzzle Bobble: One of the first games I remember. As in, I saw my father playing this in arcades when I was younger. At some point around 2004/2005 I had the "Bust-a-Move 3DX" game for PC (which is the best in the classic series, but not the original). And when I realized MAME existed, I started playing the original game on there.
fun fact: for a long time, a separate PC in the garage was dedicated to "MAME32 0.97", which meant I had to stay there if I wanted to play it.

- Wario Land: This was part of a bunch of cartridges I were lent to me by a cousin long ago (around the time I was 5, I think). I wasn't particularly good at it, but over the time I managed to beat in its entirety.

- Duck Tales 2 GB: Also part of the same bunch of cartridges, but I didn't really play it as much. And at the time, I didn't manage to beat any level either since I was godawful at video games.

- Sonic Spinball (aka Sega Smash Pack GBA): oh boy. The original game in retrospect is kind of okay given how it was developed. But the GBA version (the very first GBA game I bought) is an horrifically lazy port, especially since they had the actual source code. Screen crunch was inevitable, but the butchered sound or little details like how the normal speed there is faster than the original version's 'Fast' setting are... yeah. It's a why tier port.

- Speedy Eggbert: A lil fun platformer my father bought back in 2004 thinking it was something he would enjoy. For him it wasn't, but I liked this game and so I ended up playing it a lot. I really didn't have many other PC games at the time (huge collection of Flash games aside). I didn't even know a sequel existed until I had internet access.

I'm still young enough (?) to consider snowing an almost entirely positive thing. It may be the fact that it never snowed to the point where shoveling snow that much was ever needed. Or that it almost never snows for that matter and sincerely I miss it. :V

I'm in that oddball zone where I technically have a driver's license, but I don't have any car I can legally drive thanks to some arbitrary limits on how powerful a car a "newbie" can drive.

In other words, what I can do is usually go either by bus or by train. The bike is only really used sometimes for fun; never for going to school.

heh, I was one of those guilty of the CSS margin hacks for achieving that

.topbar-[user id] like selectors only in the regular layout would a good solution, since they would allow easy editing of some sidebar features without relying on CSS hacks which are incompatible with other thread layouts


AB 2.5.x does this and it's a pretty nifty feature

the current avatar is somewhat of a placeholder. it doesn't really fit and was simply a test round of drawing my own avatar

I intended it to replace with a mood avatar set of either Schezo, the self-"caricature" (lol) of long ago, or the pinchan-inspired bunny. Of course, I could just put back the previous avatar for consistency's sake but I'd prefer to actually draw mine.

I have a drawn a bunch of OCs over the years. Pretty much all of them are unnamed since I'm terrible at giving names (other than short names I use in the filenames for scanned drawings :V), and there isn't much behind them, not even a consistent age, so this is more how I came up with them more than anything.

The generic color-coded player characters.
These were among the first set of characters drawn (around March 2012). The girl (red) came first, then the boy (blue) shortly followed.
They more or less fit the role of curious innocent children going on an Adventure™ nobody ever asked.
Originally they were drawn in a pseudo-Bubble Bobble art style (modeled after the drawing of Super Drunk), and the way I currently draw them still slightly reflects that. But I never could get the "head is 1/2 of the body part" look good :V
Anyway, the "self-caricature" of myself in 2012 merged in with the boy some time later (they looked almost mostly identical anyway, so there's that).

They are somewhat common doodle-friendly characters (which I tend to cut out from the page scans).

The original "bad guy", drawn shortly after the previous characters I mentioned.
He was originally an Eggman equivalent, and the early art showed that. Eventually that idea moved more towards "questionably malicious but friendly guy who isn't considered malicious until shit happens".
One of the original concepts was also of him being some sort of robot, an idea which eventually was shot down.

There's really nothing to say about this.
It was me experimenting with the idea of someone having leaves for wings, and now it happens that the upcoming mood avatar will probably feature her. And I can't seem to decide if I want to portray her as a boy or girl. Oy well.

The lewd slime bunny.
More or less an almost invincible shapeshifting dick who messes with people for the lolz.

How I came up with this is one hell of a story:
At some point in time in 2016, while browsing through drawthreads in /b/, I came across someone going by the alias "pin" or "pinchan", of which I liked her cute lil doodles and art style. Eventually, (I don't remember if she linked it in one of her posts or I found it on my own) I found her tumblr account where she uploads art and sometimes her drawthread doodles.

One distinguishing feature (other than the way she draws faces, which somewhat impacted the way I draw some facial expressions) is that she draws most of her pin doodles in a pink or using pink shading. See, back then I tended to avoid using the pink/magenta hues since I had an hard time finding an use for them which actually looked good, and yet I found that maybe there was a way to make it work. I started experimenting with those pink hues (starting with a drawing of pin's OC by memory as a test, which went about as off-model as you'd expect).
In any case, the "slime" part comes from the pink/magenta/violet shading reminding me of slime. Yeah, really. Since that made enough sense and it was a good enough reason to *not* use the peach pink I would normally use on the skin, I went with it.

The bunny part is also inspired by pin's OC, but it's a more generic/straightforward take on the bunnygirl thingy. Oh, and there's no real reason why I draw both sets of ears (both human and bunny ears); it's just a common quirk of how I draw characters with animal ears.

Finally, since you don't really need to draw clothes for a slime girl (and me being l a z y on drawing clothes), that's the character which started to progressively being used more as an avatar.

So yeah, that's the insane story.

This has been a little while ago, but I ended up receiving a Fujitsu tablet from 2001 running Windows XP.
It originally ran Windows 98 SE apparently, but it got upgraded to XP at some point, which would be a good thing if it weren't for XP running somewhat slowly.

I'm... not really using it for anything though, other than testing out how awkward some of the early tablets are.

Heh, that's a fun one. I usually put them in a small pot and wait about 10 minutes when I'm at home. Works every time.
Unfortunately, this isn't the case when I do this on the "college" kitchen, which has a different burner. I still haven't got it perfectly right there.

- Get a car. The only car we have (dad's car) is one I can't legally drive yet.
- Continue to draw at least something every weekday.
