I've been lurking here and in tcrf.net since 2010, but I've never got to make an account till now.
I'm mostly interested in unused content, prototypes and general technology, and sometimes in ROM hacking.

I don't really have anything else to say, other that I have a Youtube account with random stuff.

Sorry for my English, it's not my native language and I don't speak it quite fluently :\

The first post gets updated

In Wario Land 4 there's this block in the debug tileset that uses two palettes:

It's based on the one from Wario Land 3, but the final one uses a different design.
It uses the same palette as the final block.

-------------
There is an unused ladder tile in the course 2 tileset. It's actually defined in the block data (ie. It's not invisible).

An example of how it appears:

This lone spike is in the castle tileset. Same thing as before, it is defined in the block data, and it works as it should.

As far as I don't like to use videos, this video shows how the block looks in a level. (in the first seconds or so)

In this bank this is unused. It looks like it was going to be near the bed.

This block is technically used in the genie battle, but the lower half is always obscured by the status bar.

I don't recall this being in the game, but it's near the 3 UP Hearts sprite tiles. The "palette" may be wrong.

-------------------

And for something slightly different, the in the wiki there is a to do on the Wario Land 4 page asking if the X painting is unused .

It's used when you try to revisit an already defeated boss.

-------------------

Fun stuff that is not important:

In the first game there is a variable which changes Wario's position.
Address A910 Value 11.

0 - Left
1 - Left (Inverted palette)
2 - Right
3 - Right (Inverted palette)
4 - Upside down Left
5 - Upside down left (inverted palette)
6 - Upside down right
7 - Upside down right (inverted palette)
8 - Left (Behind BG)
9 - Left (Inverted palette) (Behind BG)
A - Right (Behind BG)
B - Right (Inverted palette) (Behind BG)
C - Upside down Left (Behind BG)
D - Upside down left (inverted palette) (Behind BG)
E - Upside down right (Behind BG)
F - Upside down right (inverted palette) (Behind BG)

The inverted palette reverts back to normal a second or so after moving in any direction.
Everything but the upside down is used by the game in a way or another.

I love space

The other notebook uses nothing, but I would still use space if I'll ever use one.

Has any virtualization software ever crashed your computer?

One day, while testing some random stuff (the dialog editor) on Windows 1.03 in Virtual PC 2007, Windows 1.03 crashed with colored stripes like this.
Then the computer rebooted and "Your PC has recovered from a serious error".
Pressing BACKSPACE on the keyboard is a serious error? Really?
I was speechless.

The odd thing is that it happens only on my notebook. If I try the same on my desktop thankfully it doesn't happen.

The quality of VPC at its finest.

Under such circumstances, virtual machine monitor returns a fatal error exception to the guest operating system and prevents the crash on the host operating system.
The actual cause of the crash is probably hardware-dependent. If you grab the minidump, I could tell you exactly where it crashed, and give some suggestions as to why.

To answer your question: no, I've never had virtualization software crash my PC. I have had VirtualBox mess up my network, but it only affected IPv6 which I rarely use. I ended up just removing network support, since I didn't need it in my virtual machine.

Ok, I will try to install the SP1 and post the results when done.

On the first place VPC isn't tweaked for Windows 1.03 anyway, so I really can't complain.

EDIT

It worked. It doesn't crash by pressing backspace anymore, and when it crashes it returns to the command prompt.
That is strange, I thought I had already installed that patch, but I realized I didn't. Now it is.

Thanks for helping!

I recently found by pure luck in the old computer a full copy of the movie "Click" .
I re-watched it, and it's just as awesome as almost any movie with Adam Sandler, but it's the only one (so far) where I've had hard time not to cry near the end, when he says his last words to his family.

I own both a Samsung smartphone (which is always turned off) and iOS.

iOS is OK for me and I have quite a lot of apps there, although there are some problems and the "new" iTunes interface is plain confusing.

Haven't tried Android yet (don't shoot me) but I'll probably get one.

Have you seen Punch-Drunk Love? I'm not a Sandler fan but I'm a Paul Thomas Anderson fan and that movie is one of my favorites of all time.

edit: I just realized I talked about that same movie in the opening post. Oops, way to overexpose it, Sofi.

Haven't seen it yet, but I do remember to have heard a movie with that title.

Thanks for clarifying. I wasn't totally sure about the X tiles if I had to mention them or not.

About to finish the "original mode" of Super Mario Bros Deluxe.

The smaller screen starts to be a really big problem from World 7. Bullets and hammers coming out of nowhere.

When I finish this I'll try the "Lost Levels", which I expect to be a total nightmare in this version.

It's a nice challenge overall.

I don't really like how much smaller the field of view is in Deluxe and the fact that you can't get to worlds 9 through D in "Lost Levels" is kind of a bummer.

I think I'd feel better if someone came out with a graphics hack of Deluxe and made it not use the NES sprites.

Oh well.

<object width="640" height="480"><embed src="//www.youtube.com/v/JZtDaba0Xm0?hl=en_US&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="480" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Yep, by now I finished the original mode and started the the Lost Levels.

In the original mode the smaller screen doesn't start that bad, but it gets worse, much worse (paired up with the more slippery controls this "port" has).

With the Lost Levels however, it starts as a nightmare since the beginning.
I don't know if I have the patience to finish it.

I'll probably give up and try instead the SNES version, as the difficulty of using a smaller screen makes an already hard game way too hard.

I'll take a look at the challenges and You vs Boo, but my goal was to clear the original mode, and that's done.

Well, they could have done something like the first Super Mario Land, but I disgress.
