| Ahoy hoy. Decided to make an account finally. I used to hang around Acmlm under a different nick something like 7 years ago, and sorta just faded out of it. I do lots of reverse engineering and get a strange kick out of ripping games apart and putting them back together, so I might end up contributing something around those lines. Past that, my gaming habits are fairly, hm, intense? Often times I'll find a game I like, then play it pretty nonstop until I reach my goals with it. Nothing more satisfying than spending months on end on pretty much one game and knowing it like the back of my hand. Not really sure how these intro threads generally go, but there it is, I guess. |

| Definitely older stuff. I mostly do stuff with 90s arcade games, which means lots of custom stuff on 68000. It's a good thing I really like that CPU, I guess. Maybe I should do something with Genesis at some point! Recently poked around in some SNES stuff that wasn't terribly offensive. I went on an intense gaming binge on Combatribes and ended up reverse engineering a bit of it to figure out some strategies for the last boss since she's kind of absurd. Been touching SMS stuff recently too, and I really underestimated that system's potential I think. I've messed with some newish stuff too, but I think the latest I really enjoy playing with is PS1/Saturn. PS1 is particularly interesting to me since there are so many custom solutions for everything, and the coprocessor stuff is pretty cool. Doesn't hurt that MIPS is fun too ![]() |

Originally posted by "Mega-Mario" Yeah, it definitely kinda depends on motivation. I like breaking stuff just for the heck of it, and usually I have some personal goal that I want to achieve with it as well. Sometimes I just want to pull out graphics, sometimes I add practice mode to arcade games so I don't have to play the full game to learn specific parts, and sometimes I just want to know how something was done. I actually avoid popular games when I do this, primarily because I like the concept of the brave new frontier and the exploration and whatnot involved with such a thing. DS is cool though, I've played with that a bit. Very much a mix of old and new style game development there. If I had more patience for trying out modifications (at least last time I tried, it's not as easy as just popping into a really common and easily available set of emulators, like the stuff I usually mess with), that'd probably be the newest system I'd enjoy working with. |

| I believe you can do Thumb no problem with the built-in stuff. Just hit t I think it was, then set T to 1, and it'll start doing thumb instead of arm. -------------------- Twitter | Daifukkat.su I like the challenge of "doing the impossible" with older hardware, and pushing it as far as it can go America dragged kicking and screaming into progress. |

Not exactly much of traveling, but I've visited friends in Canada a few times this past year since moving to Ohio (I lived in California until about 8 months ago, which is obviously quite far from Canada ). Not really that much different from the US other than a little bit of accent.*continues being boring* I am saving up for a trip to Tokyo sometime next year though, so I'll post about that when that finally happens :V -------------------- Twitter | Daifukkat.su < S.Yagawa > I like the challenge of "doing the impossible" with older hardware, and pushing it as far as it can go < Vyxx > America dragged kicking and screaming into progress. |

| I've been doing a bunch of arcade game assembly hacks recently... http://dodonpachi.daifukkat.su/hacks/ There are some more in-progress not on there, but I don't want to divulge much on them in the case that they never come to fruition. Also been working on a platformer for Sega Master System, and a run'n'gun for the Capcom CPS-2 arcade hardware. I feel fine talking about these because I'm kind of dead-set on finishing them. The platformer is what I've been working on pretty much on all my free time for the last 2 months or so, but I'm finishing up one of my other arcade hacks right now and hope to have that out within the next month or so. -------------------- Twitter | Daifukkat.su < S.Yagawa > I like the challenge of "doing the impossible" with older hardware, and pushing it as far as it can go < Vyxx > America dragged kicking and screaming into progress. |

| Interestingly enough, I actually don't really like Jupiter Jazz! I think the Garegga version is much better than the original. | Hahaha, how crude. Something along the lines of "Die you idiot!! | The code in that pastebin looks very much valid and correct. This is for a GC game? Weird for there to be MIPS in there, unless it was maybe originally intended for N64? The bit you quoted here is definitely wrong though, but I imagine that's because the beginning is probably some sort of header and not actually code. -------------------- Twitter | Daifukkat.su <</b>S.Yagawa> I like the challenge of "doing the impossible" with older hardware, and pushing it as far as it can go <</b>Vyxx> America dragged kicking and screaming into progress. |
