| The instruments at your disposal that you used for most of the intro music that are originally for Bowser themes are really nice. It's, uh..."metal", as Nathan Explosion would say. Metal + Classical music = tasty. If you could like, remix the songs more to be like that...I guess you kind of did that for Staccato. Staccato Swamps has a really nice tune, and the graphics are awesome. At the least, there's that one SPC that starts off more like an actual song (the one that is heard when fighting the Boo boss) that shifts into something not nearly as good as the opening. I'm not saying you should copy the piece that the opening is from entirely, but at least follow it more closely. It's a famous piece for a reason, after all. |

| A comment on the video even says it's Rainbow Road, but the MKDS version. I dunno if there's even a difference, or if the poster was correct about the version, but that's definitely one of the many Rainbow Road themes. Edit: I hit up YouTube to refresh my memory. It was the MKDS version. My bad. Still a very awesome spc. Edit, again: Why is my name changing colors...? |

But it's not my birthday. I'm 19 tomorrow. ![]() Edit: fixed my profile. I don't see how I could have mis typed 20 and put 19 instead. I don't suppose a hooligan board hacker changed it to be a dork? The only other thing I can think of was that I was thinking "I'm going to be 19 soon" and then put the number I was thinking of instead of the number I was supposed to, but that's not the sort of mistake I would make (and I'm very intimate with the sorts of mistakes I make - I make them all the time). |

I've always loved games that surprised me when I realized that it's so much longer than I thought, because of all the things I'm able to do in old levels after playing later ones than previous. Or even seeing new places in the distance and knowing the game will take me there eventually, but enjoying the suspense of how and when it will become possible. Also, the Mario caps give some pretty awesome abilities. Some of the transformations Mario goes through in Mario games as a whole are kind of boring. The caps in particular were very fun in comparison. Classic fire Mario is the plainest power up that still manages to be fun; anything else that isn't more embellished (e.g. the caps that let you fly, turn invisible and pass through mesh, or become metal and use the extra weight to walk under water or really mash the enemies) is too plain. I'm running out of things that I can just code, and I'm itching to program stuff, so if you don't mind an unreliable partner who does a good job if he ever gets around to it, I'd love to help out with some coding for this. Note: I don't actually know 65816. I'm just a really fast learner who has an affinity for ASM programming. |

Originally posted by Hectamatatortron I said that in another thread. I suppose it applies to this one as well. I'm serious about the potential reliability thing, though. I don't wanna discourage letting me on board, because this hack looks like it's going to be one of the best platformer hacks to date, but I just have a terrible habit of not finishing what I start. I have like, hobbyist ADD or something. |

| Heh. It was officially the day of my birth 52 minutes ago according to my clock, so you can all come out from behind the couch now. It's not exactly 19 years until I've hit sometime around noon, nearer the time of day I was born, but it's not called "Birth-hour", now is it? ![]() Edit: My name's changing colors again. It's officially official ![]() |

| I decided quite a bit ago that I wanted what was necessary for enjoying Halo 3 online for Christmas. I also decided I wanted Super Mario Galaxy, but then I figured out that I already had it and 100%'d the game to pieces. Other than that, I'm set as it is. I wonder if I could get a girl friend for Christmas that'd be nice |

| Well it clearly needs ladders. :3 Barring that, it's simplistic yet artful. I like it. As I said, I haven't really worked with 65816, but I've seen some examples of it. It makes plenty of sense, but it's not going to be fun learning to work with registers that don't share capabilities. It'll just be an extra challenge I guess. It could end up adding to the fun rather than subtracting from it once I get the hang of it. I love programming and I love being good at stuff. :3 As for examples, I guess this video is the closest thing I've done to a serious game mechanic overhaul, and the hack is incomplete not just graphically, but in terms of nerfing the weapons to be less broken: Some of those weapons were already in the game, others were forged out of ASM edits and unused or differently used graphics, and all are made accessible by pressing buttons that previously would do nothing. I've added a few new "skills" to Fire Emblem 8 (GBA game; no videos this time) in a buggy patch I released back on Board 2; that hack cost me a week of hand assembling around 500 lines of Thumb assembly. So, yeah, I've got this down pretty well. |

| I'd love to, but I don't want any ASM I write to be non conforming with what you already have. If you could give me some idea of what kind of power ups you like and some notes on my constraints*, and maybe a tactless demo patch for testing how the power up feels in the game itself, I can jump right in. * From my experience, the only real trick to ASM hacking is finding a place to put the new ASM (and hooking to it; sometimes that's a bit of a chore too). If you have some sort of system for where ASM should go, I'll need to see it. I think block tool sets up some sort of system like the kind I'm talking about. |

What I meant was, you give me a patch of what you have so far, so that when I test anything I make, I can test it in your patch. If I test it on the normal game, it won't be the same. The power ups have to be integrated with your hack, not the normal game. Get it? Also, yeah, I was expecting a PM and not a reply post full of the surprises you wanted to keep secret. I'm checking my box now. -------------------- ![]()

I played this game with my class in 10th grade. We didn't have anything but mafia members and bystanders if I recall. It was still fun though. Kirby's post reminds me of Death Note, like what Light would do when envisioning himself as an innocent person to keep people off his back. I wish I could join this game now, but I guess I have to wait until the current one ends. -------------------- ![]()

Isn't that Cadohacan? I think I recall Outlawer and Cen being alternate names that Cadohacan used. He hangs around #kodewerx now and then (I forget the name of the current server for that channel). He's a bit of a dork, but I guess he knows his stuff. @Reimu - In Jet Force Gemini, you can use an exit modifier to escape multiplayer levels when having a death match with your friends, and warp to a single player level. When one of the players leaves the area, all the other players come with them, and each player spawns in their own entrance to the next area when that area loads. As you can imagine, that creates an issue of realism. I'm hoping that, assuming Ocarina exhibits similar behavior (and why it wouldn't, I can't fathom), Cado fixed the issue. Interesting note about JFG, the AI works perfect. I'm not sure why, but the AI in JFG is smart enough to target players on its own, and you can essentially play the single player game as a co-op game with no trouble. The game still thinks you're fighting against your "team mates" though. I've made JFG hacks that enable usage of the single player menu in multiplayer (for player 1 only, though), and allow saving and loading of multiplayer data. In Diddy Kong Racing, I discovered values within character data that changes whether a character is human or AI controlled. I imagine that Diddy Kong Racing's 2 player co-op could be extended to 4 players. Adding multiplayer support is definitely one of my favorite types of hacks, and it's not too difficult in most cases. It looks like Cado is using the Gamecube version of Ocarina in order to make these codes. What's up with that? -------------------- ![]()

http://pastebin.com/f35136a84 That file should give you all you need to use the glitch again in versions of Link's Awakening other than the original, including V 1.1 V 1.2 Deluxe 1.0 Deluxe 1.1 Deluxe 1.2 Enjoy. Edit: HyperHacker wants you all to know that Mario Kart 64 hacking is going very well. Edit, again: This should simplify those notes for you all: Glitch in version 1.1: set 0x0CC1 to 0x0000 and 0x2802 to 0x0000 Note that pressing Select while dialog is on screen will still work (not sure why the can't-open-map-when-changing-screens code also handles the can't-open-map-while-talking problem because the variable that is checked is a counter for how many steps you are into changing screens...I guess it also counts down how many message windows you have left?). You will have to press B (Select will no longer work) to close the map, and it will look a bit glitchy, but otherwise you're safe. -------------------- ![]()

He says you already told him that. I forgot you were a huge LA fan/hacker. You probably have some cool shit to share but I don't know what I'd do with it. I do want to add a level 3 sword to the game that burns everything it touches. You got any notes on how to do that? -------------------- ![]()

Heh, I was kidding. If I ever get serious about it, I'll pick up the parts of Z80 assembly I didn't figure out while making this hack and do it myself. Like I tell my friends, I'm a pretty beast hacker. Edit: Updated with info for other versions. -------------------- ![]()
