Originally posted by GlitterBerri Ah, that's what it was. I knew there was a bot involved but I wasn't sure if it was one of those auto-vandal/ad reverters like they have on Wikipedia. Regardless, the fact of the matter remains that we discussed the irrelevance of his video both via Twitter and now IRL. He continued to stand beside his idea that his video was completely in the right, however, and that its inclusion would have helped viewers understand more about the game. I agreed with him on the fact that yes, if someone knew absolutely nothing about SaGa Frontier a video would help. Not just his, but any video. I then reiterated that the people reading about SaGa Frontier on TCRF are people who already know what that game is and are more interested in the intricacies of the game's leftovers. I told him only a very small percentage of the website's traffic would be people who are completely unfamiliar with the game in question. He would have had far better luck monetizing his video on a wiki that catered to a bigger demographic of gamers, though I think he was only trying to get his video listed here for the purposes of backlinking so he could improve the SEO of his video on YouTube. He talked a LOT about that. I also told him that had he made a more succinct video that was about deleted content or regional differences and ONLY that, that perhaps he would not have had as much trouble having a video listed here, though again I explained I have no administrative control over the site and everything I said was speculation. He seemed pretty adamant about the other video on TCRF that was hosted by that Broadband TV company, or whichever its partner network was called (he mentioned it in his video but did a poor job explaining it there). He ranted about how BBTV and companies like Machinima are taking over the market and I stressed that what he was claiming wasn't the case. He also said that TCRF should not be allowed to solicit donations if we "censor" content. I again restated that had he made a video only about what we cover that he would not have had as much of a problem. He insisted that "there's no money in that", and I agreed. The content is too niche to be marketed and profitable. We had come full circle here, and that's when I explained it was for this exact reason why TCRF solicits donations. He seemed to understand it when I presented it in that manner; I could tell a light bulb came on. Originally posted by Girlydragon Oh I know, like I said I only felt badly because his family has apparently been needlessly dragged through the mud by trolls as well. When someone's actions warrant heckling and ridicule then I believe such trolling is wholly deserved. It's meant as a means for people to learn from their mistakes and grow from them. A good number of people on Encyclopedia Dramatica are no longer considered "lulzcows" just because they took the hint and cleaned up their acts and thus produced no further lulz. The fact that Martell still gets THIS upset when a single and admittedly niche and not exactly super duper high traffic site delists his video is pretty telling that there's a lack of mistake recognition. -------------------- ![]() |

Originally posted by Rick My thoughts exactly. I was impressed by RPG Fanatic's either inability or outright stubbornness to realize there are many, MANY, sub-genres of video game analysis and that just because something is related by name doesn't mean it's related by content. Had he done something also niche like putting together a lengthy analysis of the game's soundtrack compared to the types of popular music and melodies of the era his video would still have been removed on the same exact grounds as his retrospective. -------------------- ![]() |

I had the unfortunate luck of running into The RPG Fanatic in the offline world and chatted with Xkeeper about it via Twitter. He suggested I register here and post the story, so I did.
I've been around. --------------------
