Please watch Space Battleship Yamato 2199. It's streaming legally now, you have zero reason not to see it unless you want to miss out on a remake of one of the best space opera series that was so pioneering it basically helped invent the term "anime" in the 1970s. The remake actually added more to the cast and the CGI is pretty slick, plus the music is wonderfully retro sounding to go along with it being a 70s anime remake.
