I made this suggestion in the IRC channel, and folks there asked me to post it on the forums for more feedback, and to ensure everyone gets the message, if y'all think it's a good idea.

I think hidden developer messages are pretty cool. The trouble is the Hidden Developer Messages Category contains a bunch of games with messages consisting of nothing more than credits or copyrights, which I think are rather dull.

So, my proposed solution is to create a new Hidden Credits category, with the intent of making the Hidden Developer Messages category more interesting. Everyone on IRC was fine with the idea, and someone even made an icon for it.

I originally suggested that the category be for "hidden copyright messages," but while sorting through the pages, I think "hidden credits" fits my intent better. Developer Messages would then consist solely of games with actual thoughts from developers, while simple attribution lines would go into the Credits category. Many games would belong to both.

Anyone opposed?

Into which category would you place James Bond 007? Is that close enough to count as a "copyright message"?

Yeah, that's pretty much what it is. Names vs Not Names seemed to be a very accurate and clear dividing line between Not Interesting and Interesting, so that's what I made it.

The Robocop 2 example specifically would fit into both categories ("Thank you for playing" easily counts as a developer message). I guess I don't have a good solution for a theoretical "interesting credit sequence with nothing more than credits" game. I would just answer that nothing is perfect, but this is better than the existing solution, I guess.

So, I'm still leaning towards the Hidden Credit Message category.
