Noob me, please. I don't know why that time stamp makes it an important day... I'd put money on Jul's B-day? |

Maybe you need to remove that giant wad of dust that is blocking your cool air intake. Two laptops that consistently overheated no longer overheat once I removed that wad of dust, the wad of dust wouldn't be taken out by compressed air by the way.

have you also checked the power supply fans? Before my power supply kicked the bucket, fans would make the sound like how you describe, loud when you first turn the computer on, and then the sound would gradually diminish?
It is possible to replace your power supply fans. I had another power supply that caused a capacitor on the video card to explode because the power supply operated at a too high of a temperature. I opened it up (voiding the warranty) to find that both of the fans in the power supply wouldn't spin properly anymore. Because they both were 80mm fans, I bought two new ones, cut the wires the old ones were connected to, and soldered the fan wires to the new fan, insulating the solder with heatshrink tubing. Saved myself from spending another $70 on a 600W power supply. |

I believe this is more targeted to companies than consumers. I can see companies taking advantage of this because they can better reign in their data and determine who does and doesn't have access. Also, it helps reduce IT overhead because you would just then need to manage a server than a series a desktops.
But yeah, with this foray... i don't know... google is growing scarier day by day... |

There is a time and a place for videos games in our "adult" lives. While I don't play video games as much as I did when I was in middle school, I still play every now and then, and sometimes a few days in a row. The reason why I don't play so much is because I have so much other things to do now. Just depends on how you prioritize things. From what it seems, you didn't give enough time to what you should have. If you still have a desire to be in college, I strongly urge you to ride it out because college opened my mind to so many things I do not think I would have gotten. The school is doing its job that you get the best opportunity to learn in college. If it appears you need to have special treatment (such as extended testing times, better access to tutors, etc), it isn't such a bad thing. If it is determined that you do have a learning disability, at least you know it takes longer to do things and there is nothing wrong with that. Anyone who judges you negatively because you have a learning disability is a jerk and close-minded and probably people you don't want to be around anyways.
All in all, just keep at it and don't give up (corny I know, but it is true). Yes, it is possible to become an novelist without going to college. But opening those doors to be able to get your stuff published is harder without college, for it is supposed to make it easier for you to open doors. |

I built a computer with Quadcore Q8200 (Motherboard/CPU combo was $200), 4GiB of DDR2-800 ($50) (PC6400), 1TB HD (~$100), and a Geforce 9600GT PCI express video card for (~$100) a total of $450, assuming you already have an existing case and power supply. All the technology is 1 generation old (all came out in 2008 or before).
If you really want to pimp up your computer, you can get a better CPU cooling system, a motherboard that supports video running in SLi mode (i.e. dual video cards).
However, if all you need is something that can word process, watch youtube or DVDs, and check email, then you can probably find something for about $200. |

A free CD burning program? How about CDBurnerXP? If you have a good CD-burner, it should work well. No problems for me so far.

It's an extra $100 to get me to calm down. So I am gonna attempt this in the worst way possible!
If this is all done with local anesthesia, then perhaps bringing some music or something? Hopefully, the surgeon will let you have that in the chair. |

| I have two cards from KWorld. They were reasonably priced ($30-$40). My first card did not come with a tuner and was only s-video and composite in. My second card came with a NTSC/ATSC tuner along with s-video and composite in. I prefer the card to USB but I'm sure both function equivalently. Both my cards have been succeeded by newer models. |

| A slight fever is okay, it is expected from having such a thing done. However, if it doesn't go away by the time your finish your antibiotics, then you have a problem. You do have antibiotics right? If you don't, then your surgeon didn't give you the standard of care for such a procedure. |

I got IV and Nitrous Oxide-Oxygen sedation to get my wisdom teeth extracted. I was very loopy afterwards. Local is cheaper, but when it wears off, boy does it suck. I also remembered I didn't keep an ice pack on after the surgery and I was a chipmunk for about 1 week |

I doubt it. Chances are, it can't be that bad because you've been eating liquid foods. If you had a solid piece of food in your mouth for several days, then it would be really bad.

Well, topics change all the time in this thread, and sometimes, albeit rare, two conversations can occur at once. I've seen it happen in this thread.
Going back to the wisdom tooth stuff. Took me about two weeks to fully regain the range of motion of my jaw. It just depends on how deep they had to go to get your teeth out, and also how much damage they had to do in getting the tooth out. |
