Final Fantasy Adventure. The game is jank as hell but it's actually really fun and compelling.

Uh, I have some questions: What do you mean by 'system'? Why is this pinned? Who are you? Why do you want to know if I'm in a system? Why do you think anybody wouldn't be? (These last two will probably be answered by you defining system)

Finished Final Fantasy Adventure. It was a fun time. Really weird game, but super charming, and fun. The later part of the game was a bit wild with the bosses, some were ridiculously easy, others really sucked and the only strategy I could find (because I couldn't avoid any attacks at all) was to just spam Cure.

So with that done, I'm moving on to Secret of Mana. I've played this game before, but barely. But I've owned Secret of Evermore since about the time in came out, and that's one of my all time favorites, so it's kind of strange I never got into Mana. I think it's because Evermore is a bit more polished?

Anyway, I'm not very far in Mana, but so far it's keeping the kind of janky charm that Final Fantasy Adventure had, but with a lot of quality of life improvements. I'm also enjoying the two player aspect with my wife!

Got the Mega Man X collection, and of course played through Mega Man X pretty quickly.

Then I started playing Mega Man X2, which I have never played before, and I gotta say... This is not as good as the first game. I mean, obviously the running and shooting is just as fun, and the the new robot masters Mavericks are fun and interesting, but I kind of feel like this game is actively punishing me for exploring. There are so many areas that end at a mysterious door that I can't figure out how to open, or just a complete dead end (I've since looked up what these were for, but how on earth would a person just find that?). I only found two of the upgrade capsules, despite being able to see where the others obviously were, but they were placed in areas that, instead of requiring some kind of fun mechanic to get to, relied on near frame-perfect jumps and dashes.

Yahoo Finance is one of the biggest resources for retail investors. Other than that... I don't know. Do they still do fantasy football?

Since the last time I posted in here, I got a Pilot Metropolitan fountain pen and, let me tell you, if you haven't tried a fountain pen you should definitely do so! It feels so much better to write with. I can't understand why we switched to ballpoint.

Yep. You just have to make it a priority to go. But even if you don't, it's completely asynchronous so it's not that big of a deal if you only check up once every couple weeks.

No pressure. Use the forum how you like.

I'm starting ActRaiser after picking it out on a whim. I just got my FXPAK Pro, so I'm having fun trying random things out. This is absurdly ambitious and the way it throws together platforming, city-building, god game, rpg, and shooter elements is charmingly overwhelming and messy. It feels so mysterious and endless.

Actraiser is super dope. It's one of those games I keep coming back to every few years, because it just has a strange charm other games don't. Yeah, the platforming is kind of janky, and the city building isn't super in-depth, but the story is fun and somehow it all just ties together into a great, quirky little game.

Double-post!

Been playing Mad Max (2015), and oh boy do I really love this game. It has a lot of the same weird quirks that those other open world games have (What should I do now? Man this is a lot of empty space), but it also has so, so, so much going for it. The car battles and death runs are just super fun, and all the quirky characters and downright vulgar names add a touch of silliness that keep it from being too dark.

It also doesn't suffer from the "quest overload" that other open world games have. There's always a nearby goal for me, but I don't walk into an area and get inundated with five new quests to complete.

Seconding Cities Skylines. I can't believe I didn't think of it earlier. It's the penultimate city simulator!

I wouldn't say my concerns about discord disappearing are serious, but I've made no secret that I believe the clock is ticking. As with all other IM ecosystems, it's only a matter of time.

Hopefully something open replaces it, like Matrix or some modern form of XMPP.

A while back (Don't remember if I posted here) I bought a Soundesign 5928, so of course I had to grab some old 8-tracks. The 8-track deck works, but the belts are obviously super worn, so the tape speed is super inconsistent.

Mmm... I guess it's mostly folk and blues, but I appreciate some electropop, ska, and many others.

idk, I listen to so many different types of music, it's hard to say, I guess it's easier to list genres I don't like:

Stadium country.

That's about it.

I also like posting in this thread, but I haven't changed my layout in... six years? Maybe?

So the next version of Windows is getting announced next Thursday. A lot of people seem to think it will be called Windows 11 (even though it was announced six years ago that the next version would just be called "Windows").

For my part, I think it will be called Windows365, but I hope it's called Windows 12.

4k just seems silly to me from a computer graphics standpoint. It's such a pain because you have to fiddle with all the high dpi settings and blah blah blah. You do all this work, and end up blowing up your images, fonts, and icons to roughly the size they would have been had you just left everything at 1080.

I think that's where the failure is. Going from 1080 to 4k doesn't really get you anything in terms of screen real estate, because you have to make everything relatively bigger to even see it. Going from 1024x768 to 1080 made sense, because you get extra room for more windows, more icons, more whatever.

As for TVs... Yeah I don't know why that hasn't taken off. I guess because streaming platforms are reluctant to push 4k content?
