I like how after clarification that the police were asking for an ID he chuckled and ate the taco.

Well, I might as well join in as well -- not sure if you remember me, Dekker. I was a member of AntiReality and still post on Vizzed once in a while. I do come by here everyday, even though I don't post much (I only found my password to this place recently). I wasn't here since the very beginning, but in 3 days it will be 8 years since I joined Acmlm's. Good to see a lot of the old names.

I do remember you, now that you mention it...

Just read this for some reason... But actually it's from a remote support session so the colors look bad.

This is a little off topic but I just wanted to say: Your background is more or less not safe for work. I never realized it until now because this is the longest of your posts that I've read. (Click to see original post.)

Not that I'm telling you to change it or anything; just an observation.

With no power in Connecticut I'm sitting in the kitchen of the president of my company trying to support people over an iphone tether on my co-worker's laptop running off of a generator.

Got entirely too drunk off of three white russians, slammed my head/ear on my end table, then got a call inviting me to be part of the crack support team running in my company president's kitchen off of a generator.

Nothing Halloween related even happened.

Nope, this unit is actively running as an IIS/SQL server which hosts a .NET application that an entire office uses.

I was just blown away by the fact that it has 24 cores and 23.5 gigs of RAM so that each processor gets less than 1 gig of RAM.

It's just a total waste of cores.

That is sort of the scenario I was envisioning actually. The computer is capable of computing more than it can remember.

Edit: Was apparently distracted and not reading what you said that I quoted. I'm thinking this computer will run out of RAM before it can actually use all of its cores, thus making them a waste of hardware.

Holy shit, it's Randy53215! I was wondering when you might pop up. Good to see you're still alive and well, and yeah, I've been doing alright. Hit me up on AIM sometime. I see antireality.net is still registered - albeit it's been saying it will be back up in 48 hours for the past year or so.

I've often had that issue myself. I attributed it to surface area. I figured very the tip just didn't have enough metal making contact to transmit enough heat to melt the solder. Turn the heat up?

(Note: I'm not very good at soldering honestly. Granted that doesn't stop me from doing it.)
