yoshi's story ending, which many people criticise for having off-key yoshi vocals, but i actually think that naïveté adds to its authenticity built on top of a lush folk pop arrangement. all this is contrasted with its incredibly rich harmony full of parallelism and diminished chords (there is one sequence that i have not really been able to attest in any other piece of music), reflecting both the sunniness and darkness of yoshis' adventures in search of happiness. as they were moving ahead, occasionally they saw brief glimpses of beauty. i think this track hinges on whether you accept the artistic thesis on which the game is built—the song overflows with the essence of the game: maintaining innocence against adversary. sometimes this song pops up in my head and lingers, like an old friend visiting from far away. whenever it stops by, the memories warm my heart and chill my spine for days
