apparently there's similar regulations being implemented in BC but the kicker is that they primarily affect "gaming machines" in the sense of "gaming commission" aka gambling, so having not actually read the specific regulatory document for California et al I'm not sure if that's the case there as well but chances are A) it might well be and Epic Gamers are overreacting to a giant nothingburger as they tend to do and/or B) as is the standard for America some gigacorporation's legal team will eventually be able to finagle a bunch of specific words in specific contexts to bypass it.

I bet some horrible armchair mathematician figured most people only ever play maybe 200 hours of video games a year which at 100 kWh/year gives you 500 watts of power budget

95 watts for the CPU, 120 W for the 1650 Super (because let's be honest, power ratings on GPUs are generally wrong), 20 watts for the chipset and drives. let's math the math easy and round 'er up to 250 because Dell probably did some dicey factory overclock on something anyways for Maximum Gamer Cred

that gets you about an hour and change of High Impact Epic e-Sports Gaming XXTreme (sponsored by G-Fuel) per day for a year

or this is a ruse by Big AI to stop people from crowdsourcing an omniscient skynet because they want theirs to be the only sentient globe-dominating machine intelligence

microsoft teams uses threading for team chatrooms and it's the most bizarre thing and as it is it kind of does an alright job of separating discussions in large teams. on one hand it breaks the traditional flow of text chat. on the other, it lets me have a conversation with the helpdesk guys about rebooting a file server in the middle of the day in the hopes that nobody will notice it's down, while the unified communications guys are busy talking in the same room about their favourite fax protocols or whatever

at least those extra 48 servers aren't adding much memory usage on top of the existing gigabyte that discord uses to display one at a time

at $morningContract we migrated O365 tenants the weekend before last and it broke all of our teams calendar integration completely

meanwhile at $actualJob we use cisco spark teams webex and it's alright. would be nice if they stopped renaming it every six months though

I'm on my way to killing a third consecutive pair of Logitech G432s (note: do not buy them, the microphone is crap) because the frequency response on the drivers in these things is nearly reference-level flat. Based on the fact that I've had this pair for about two and a half years and the fake leather vinyl crap on the ear pads is starting to flake off I expect I'll have about another 9-12 months before the cable mysteriously frays or the drivers spontaneously combust like a Spinal Tap drummer. At that point I'll probably grab a set of K612s.

My on-the-go IEM of choice right now is the KZ ZS10 PRO -- for a $40 USD pair of in-ears they're incredibly high quality. I had to replace the buds on mine which resulted in a slightly more bassy tone but considering they're not terribly scooped to begin with that's not an awful thing.

yeah I'm a daily user as well but every couple weeks or so I take a few days off and it seems to reset my tolerances a good bit. you're 100% right about the sleep thing, ever since I switched from "booze frequently, maybe a j or two a month" to "weed frequently and maybe a few drinks a week and only when hanging out with friends" I can get a solid eight hours no problem now

I'm fairly into beer but it's expensive and has hell of calories in it so I try to make it more of an out-with-friends type thing. whiskey is my jam the most of all the spirits

and I totally get that, it's been keeping me sane through the past week and a half of overtime (and the next week and a half... sucks to work that much but at least the overtime pay is kinda worth it)

mostly fully automated, but it's free of major bugs because the code actually has unit checks thanks to the demise of capitalism

so I'm stoned (happy friday) and I thought I had leftover butter chicken in the fridge and excitedly opened it up only to see no butter chicken because I had it for dinner last night and just remembered that

yeah I was hoping to edible up but I'm out as well and the air quality index today is 185 thanks to the wildfires and the outdoors smells like a campfire right now so I'm not particularly interested in walking like two miles to the local weed shop

I did however recently buy an ounce that is actually just called The One Ounce, and it is quite nice
