Oh, this is a fun one.
Linux is a horrendous pile of hacks curated by awful people and if the Year of the Linux Desktop never comes we're better off without it.
The Free Software community is actively harmful to its own goals. Open source has a large number of terrible people but it's not unified so there's no one big group of bad.
Windows 10 is better than Windows 7. Anyone still using Windows 7 because they're angry about upgrading deserves whatever hellvirus they get the day after end of support.
Modern design languages are not unilaterally bad.
PowerShell is really nice for administering systems.

I bought a Pixel 2 recently after years of using a Nexus 5. The battery lasts three days of use as opposed to twelve hours. It's nuts.
I don't know where all you folks are getting a dozen notifications a second out of. I get a notification for any incoming messages or emails and that's it. I think there's three or four apps I've turned notifications off for altogether because if you get tired of seeing notifications you can just do that unilaterally for an app.

It had the most descriptive bluescreens of the VxD-based Windows releases. That makes it the best one.
(The best 90s OS is OpenBSD 2.6. Fight me. ) ____________________ Never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon full of tapes hurtling down the freeway.

In the post-Oscar hype I got around to seeing some of the nominated and award-winning films.
The Shape of Water wasn't good. Generally when you do a romantic drama you set up at least something resembling a plot that would allow for the circumstances of the drama and the romance to happen. This film just leans heavily on the fact that it's vaguely fantasy (I think people are calling it "low fantasy"? though I thought that was code for "Arthurian style medieval fiction, without the proliferation of magical elements") to just say "eh, well, this happens."
The ending throws away the low part of "low fantasy" entirely and it turns out we've been watching Guillermo Del Toro channeling the Brothers Grimm and then trying to turn it around with some Disney at the end.
Maybe I just don't "get" it.
Get Out should have won best picture. I didn't really feel that the score was all that great, but I guess it was the least meh out of the nominees in that category (if it weren't *original* score, Baby Driver could have and would have taken that hands down). ____________________ Never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon full of tapes hurtling down the freeway.
