I don't think I would make a very good master of ceremonies. You have to be engaging and charismatic, whereas I'm, well, whatever the exact opposite of that is.

By car? Or in general? By car no more than about 150mi, to Chicago, Detroit or Cadillac they're all about the same distance. By plane, about 3600 miles to Dublin, then another 250 or so to London.

I just imagined that I needed to press any key, to see where my hand instinctively goes. Apparently, it's the G key. Probably because it's near the center.

I think everybody wonders about that at one time or another. It's same idea as feeling like you're in some sort of Truman Show type situation. I distinctly remember as a kid thinking everyone one else was really a monster in disguise.

I used to wear a watch until the band broke and I lost it. I have cell phone now, so I don't really need it. When I did wear one, I wore it on my dominant hand (right), I actually didn't give it much thought, up until now I wasn't even aware of any particular convention.

Uh-oh. It looks like you used the layout maker. I'd advise against that. Actually, I've been meaning to delete it.

There was an option to manually edit it after you're done and see results of your changes as you go, the trouble is that you have to save a layout before you can manually edit it, and my web host's web based file manager screwed up and deleted my entire cgi-bin, so now when you try to save it will just give a 404. Anyway, among the many problems with it was that is had the option of putting an image in the box that contains the text of your post, to allow text to flow around it, it set it to float to the left. The trouble with that is that this caused quotes to overlap it. To fix that I set the display mode on quotes to table, which worked at the time, but apparently the proper way to render a blockquote displayed as a table is to have it stick out of its container, and rendering engines have gotten more compliant, so now, they all render them like that. Anyway, basically, it really shouldn't be used, and I'm going to go remove it now. One day I'll get around to making a better one.

Except, that's not true. These things get repeated so much that they become just excepted facts. They eventually make it into books and newspapers. Things like "You can spin an egg on its end one day out of the year" and "Water go down the drain in the opposite direction it the Northern Hemisphere as it does in the Southern Hemisphere". It believed for the longest time that tip, as in the type you give to a waiter, stood for, "To Insure Promptness", because I read it in a book.

My favorite classes were History related. I always read the entire text book within the first couple of days of getting it, so everything was pretty much review. It's a shame that so much of what is taught public schools in History classes is just BS. Most of the health classes I took were taught by severely overweight teachers. And they just got stupid when they went into sex education. There are enough "Christian Conservatives" in our state legislator, that they were only allowed to teach "abstinence only" sex education, going so far as to disparage condoms as ineffective.

I used to make $14.75/hr at my old job, which came out to about $600 after taxes for a 50 hour week. Though, more often than not, I worked more than 50 hours. When we got our first CNC, I spent a month working 72 hours weeks (I didn't make as much per hour then, though). I live in a small town in a rural area, so for me, that was a lot of money. But, really that's the only part of the job that I miss.

Athlon 64 X2 5200+, 4GB of ram, 250GB hard drive, Radeon X1950 with 512MB, DVD+/-RW, runs Windows Server 2003. I bought it about 2 1/2 years ago for $1100. Well, by bought it, I mean I bought the individual parts and put it together. I also have several other (mostly junk) computers around here as well as a 2.3 TB file server running Windows 2000.

I've never seen Tropic Thunder, although I saw that part in the promos. But I didn't even think of Tropic Thunder when I read that, the phrase "What do you mean 'you people'?" predates that movie. Normally, characters say it when they think someone is making generalization about their race. Usually, no on is, and its used for a humorous effect in a racially tense scene.
