I have no idea if he is right or not, and I'm not saying I support it or anything, and personally I think that bill does indeed sound batshit insane, but if you want evidence, well, there's some evidence for you.

According to the first result I find on Google, Tucson, AZ "is safer than 1% of the cities in the US."

Crime rate and safety are not the same. Using an old stupid algebra teachers saying: "you cannot add apples and oranges."

Maybe there's a correlation between the low Crime Rate and high Safety? I would say it's pretty easy to have high safety if your city isn't filled with crime, especially violent ones.

Also, there could be other factors causing Tuscon to have a low crime rate, such as say, being made up of affluent white people, who generally aren't into crimes like murder and robbery.

Or maybe actually living in a violent neighborhood might have some effects on the person.

I think that real life violence takes precedence over movies/video games.

I'm not saying they're going to be perfect angels if they live in a violent area but don't play violent video games. I'm saying that Bob might think it's a-okay to waste some dude with a cheap revolver because he's had a double-whammy of his environment saying violence is acceptable and being desensitized to violence via playing violent games as a child. That doesn't mean Bob won't ever be inclined to grab a revolver and waste that same fellow if he didn't play violent video games period.

Well, I do think it will affect the person. However, it needs to be in the right (well, wrong, I suppose) conditions. A perfectly healthy (mind-wise) person shouldn't be affected by video games.

There's also the problem of desensitizing violence period, which can cause problems down the line, even if the kid is perfectly okay.

Looking through the various studies on Google, it seems that the jury isn't out on how much (if any) video game violence has an affect on desensitizing violence. http://www.psychology.iastate.edu/faculty/caa/abstracts/2005-2009/07CAB.pdf claims that violent video games do desensitize one to violence, just not in the way I stated earlier. The study there is more focused on the type of desensitizing that involves you being less able "to notice aggressive events, perceive fewer or less injuries, feel less sympathy for violence victims, believe that the world is a less-safe place, and have less negative attitudes for violence". http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2010-03-01-1Avideogames01_ST_N.htm beings up a good point that the affects of the violent games are very low when compared to other things, but the article is question is more about it's link to aggression, not desensitizing. However, that doesn't mean the critique is wrong.

Looks like to me that the discussion about violent video games is merely a subset on the whole "Does violent media increase desensitization to violence?" argument that's been going on for decades. So really, you should be arguing about media violence in general, not video games.

EDIT: But this is getting off-topic. If you guys want to continue it, feel free to make a new topic about video game violence.

Getting back into Baldur's Gate 2. Mind Flayers are a lot easier when you're protecting from their Psionic blasts, but their occasional insta-kill physical attack is dumb as hell. Didn't stop me from destroying their lair in the Underdark tho.

It would work for the economy if they would embrace green-friendly jobs, such as building solar panels, mass fans for generating wind power and the like.

Can you actually give a logical reason for his arm and neck being invisible?

Well maybe he was partially cloaking when the emotion was made?

I had a pretty cool one that had an eyepatch on. He would always start the class by telling a fake story about how he lost his eye in a badass way, and then would tell you the real story if you wanted to hear it. He eventually became the mayor of the small city/town I live in. He's pretty much liked by everyone on town.
