Sounds like a dev credit. There's already some hidden in the game:
programmed by waka, hama thanks OHE R/D#1
Putting two and two together, and going through potential names on Sega Retro, I would guess... Naohiro Warama? |

It's a Genesis launch title so I highly doubt that lol.
Anyway I figured out that all the default high score names are developer names, and the first two lists, side-by-side, are first and last names. Dunno what most of the names are, but Chikako Kamatani is likely one of them. She was probably responsible for converting the music from the arcade version.
I also added the NAO thing to the article. |

That definitely looks like a Westone game. Maybe an early version of Wonder Boy in Monster World? Also check out those trees.

It's definitely 2P only. It says next to the title in the menu a second controller is required. I suppose it's possible there could be leftovers in Columns III, though I dunno what considering it seems so limited. The file size (40714) is close-ish to the one for Putter Golf (39824), which is a 256KB ROM, so I'm guessing Columns is about the same size.
This is a great channel though, thanks for sharing! Lots of rare stuff in here for Sega Game Library and Satellaview.
This one goes through some Sega News Network stuff. The first group of stuff seems to be scripts for a "mail RPG" called Rasper Saga(?). Maybe like a collective choose-your-own-adventure for subscribers? I dunno.
The second group is general news. Includes listing of upcoming games with prices and release dates, a report on Shining Force, a report on that year's AOU Show, etc.
The third has more of that mail RPG stuff... I think one explains what it actually is. It also has stuff focusing on Sunsoft... including some small Lemmings and Gimmick art! |

OKeiji brought this up on the Discord and I'm curious about it too. During the recent Mega Drive Mini livestream, the Teradrive was mentioned during Rockman World. The game might have been developed for it instead of the MD?

(Just the gist of things should do)
EDIT: nvm, might just be a joke about how they're reducing the game's slowdown problems

Neat. I'm not really familiar with the game, but I booted it up in Exodus and looked at the plane viewer, and there they are. I'm guessing the game does render the billboards, but the camera just doesn't go high/low enough to actually see them.
(It's also pretty tricky to see even this much in the plane viewer.) |

I doubt they intended to get the real licenses. Sega always used "parodies" of brands for their billboards which looked... dangerously close to the real thing... during this time. It eventually got them into legal trouble with Marlboro.
But as long as they aren't normally visible to the player, then I'd say they still count as unused. |

The lawsuit against Sega happened in 1991 and mostly centered around Super Monaco GP. Philip Morris got criticism for advertising to kids through video games. They went to Sega to agree to remove them, which they apparently didn't do, which lead to the lawsuit.
Thing is, the banner in the game actually said "Marlbobo"...
...but it went by so quickly, you probably wouldn't tell at a glance.
Here's an old news article and a quote from it:
AP News: Philip Morris Vows Action To Remove Marlboro Logos From Video Games
Rory Radding, a trademark attorney in New York, said Philip Morris would be within its rights in taking legal action to prevent the use of its logo.
″My recommendation to the guys doing the video is they better watch out,″ he said. ″That is definitely sue-able.″
″Trademarks go not only to the name but to the look, what’s called the trade dress,″ he said. ″If you didn’t see the Marlboro name but you just saw those colors, you’d say ‘That’s Marlboro.’ ... If Philip Morris decides it’s important enough to them, they’ll bring an infringement suit.″
So yes, Sega basically took the same font, colors, and triangle design shape and just changed one letter. It might've passed parody law in Japan, which is pretty loose there afaik, but walked a dangerous line elsewhere. I don't think Sega was that brash with their fake advertising after this. |

The Strider wiki goes super in-depth documenting the differences between the recent Japanese prototype of the NES game. (We don't even have a page for the released game let alone the prototype lol)
https://strider.fandom.com/wiki/Strider_Hiryu_(Famicom_prototype)
They also have other pages for unused content and prerelease material for various games in the series, most of which we don't have either.
https://strider.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Unused_Content
...Actually, practically the whole wiki seems to have been put together by one person. Neat.

| You can use something like WinMerge to open two ROMs side by side and compare the raw data. |

^That's incredible. I actually made a thread on here several years ago about potential TimeSplitters cheats. Free Radical's old website actually hinted at their existence.

Shame it's almost impossible to enter. Maybe it's less broken on PS2/Xbox? |
