How long do you think it'll take to watch all of them? ![]() You're going to make me want to do it, too - or at least the Pertwee, Baker, Davison, McCoy episodes... as well as everything from Eccleston on up. ![]()
Oh, good. Should I also avoid the DS game? |

What, they weren't able to buy Symantec? ![]() Maybe they should buy a graphics card company that would at least help them turn out better (but still cheap ) integrated graphics hardware. Or at least write better drivers that don't break a few things, like OpenGL support. (Sorry, didn't mean to break into a rant. Honest.) |

Restore discs? Nah. The manufacturers have decided it's more cost-effective/cheaper/easier/whatever to use restore partitions, instead, and leave it up to the end-user to either make their own restore discs (or buy them for an additional price). Never mind that AOL, Netzero and others have/had no problem pushing out tons of the plastic circles. ![]() It's fun knowing that now, malware's able to take root in restore partitions, so even if you do use System Restore, the malware will be restored right along with the rest of the system. ![]() Besides, I'd rather have a pressed copy of the restore discs, than a copy I'd made that may or may not succumb to bit-rot by the time I actually need to use it. ![]() (Hmm. I seem to be ranting a lot, lately. Must be something seasonal. ) |

| I'm not sure - I haven't tried Win7, yet. I've only had the fun of trying to work with it under Vista, including such fun 'problems' as having to rename an OpenGL screensaver's extension from .scr to .SCR just so the system wouldn't block it from running, if I remember everything correctly. And even then, it still wouldn't run entirely correctly. |

Yeah. I always wondered if Intel couldn't have handled that much, much better. ![]() Maybe they locked it as a work-in-progress, intending to unlock it, someday, if the drivers actually worked... though they never seemed to ever do anything with it, ever again. Are they still doing it? |

| Well, here's my mediocre attempt... #$0A: WAKUWAKU (probably 'exciting,' in this context) amidaDOKAN (explosive lottery?) #$19: furefure (not sure about this one... anyone else?) RAKKI-KOIN (lucky coin) (I don't remember offhand what furefure describes... my dictionaries don't list it, either. Even tried a couple of online translators, and those want to translate it as 'touching touching'. 'Gripping,' perhaps?)#$1D: tsunahiki (tug-of-war) DEMOJARASU (not sure - Mario enemy/character name?) #$22: HARAHARA (heart-pounding/suspenseful/thrilling) ikadakudari (downstream (rapids?) rafting?) #$2F: SUTEPPU (step) onpu (musical note) #$38: otakara (treasure) DAIBINGU (diving) |

| I suppose they could have played on the words "patience" and "patients," too. ...of course, it's supposed to be a bad joke, anyway, so, since they were clearly able to change the code, they could always have thrown in whatever attempt they wanted, then add a pause and an extra dialog box with a line like, "Hmm. I suppose that doesn't translate well into Basic." ![]() (Edited - because I should NOT post in mid-thought...) |

Should they be larger? (Or maybe even in multiple sizes... though I don't know if I like the idea of having to remember to use something like {{PSXTriMid}}, {{PSXTriSmall}}, etc. I don't know how large they could be before they begin to screw up the text formatting, at any rate.(Now that everyone probably has HD monitors and their resolutions at 1920xWhatever , who knows how small they have their text set? I think my monitor's set to 1280x, but I still had to squint a little to make out some of those buttons. ) |

That might be interesting. How would it accommodate instances like pressing A+B at the same time, or pressing Reset 47 times, though? ![]() Had a weird thought - is it theoretically possible to create a Flash video of each individual controller, pass it a (specially formatted version of a) code, at which point it'll flash the proper pad/button sequence? (No, I'm not recommending it for TCRF... I'm just curious if it's technically possible.)I'd still probably have to refrain from wanting to 2X scale the button/pad images if I used them, though. ![]() |

| Hmm, interesting. I'll have to remember that for if and when I ever do get around to experimenting with Flash. Back to the topic at large... how about something (templates) like this? {{systemCode|text}} ...for example, the old Konami code might end up being represented this way: {{NESCode|Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, then press Start.}} The template would parse the text, replacing Up/Down/Left/Right/B/A/Start with the relevant images, and print out the rest of the text (the commas, period and "then press") as-is. Each of the images would also have alt-text explaining what pad/button-press they are, just to be sure (well, okay, those of us with bad eyesight... ).There would be variants, of course; PSXCode, SNESCode, etc. |

| I suppose that could depend upon whether or not there are any differences (additional commands, etc.) between any of the games. If we did set up a separate page, how should we do it? Something like the "system-independent" tools / GS/PAR-type hardware pages? Someone would probably have to go a little more in-depth with the debug commands and what they do, though - rather than just a list of the commands and sparse descriptions (if any), as I usually see whenever someone mentions the debug modes. ![]() Hmm... wonder if that Maniac Mansion PC code would work on the C64 version. One of these days, I'm going to have to actually get around to pulling out my C64, again. Don't know if it'll work with my VCR+HDTV combo, or if my 5" disks still work, but... wait, what was I thinking about, again? ![]() |

| Hmm. If it performs 'better' than 3.6 on this (roughly) eleven year-old hardware (running a Linux variant), I'll consider it. Otherwise, I'm not sure whether or not I'll upgrade from 3.6 (even on my systems that AREN'T eleven year-old HW, like my Vista systems...). Can everything definitely be restored to the way 3.6 and earlier look? I never did get into the Chrome (Google's, not Mozilla's) way of doing everything... |

Auto-block any content - pages or images - with the word "certification" in the title? ![]() Huh. Usually, the test/certification spambots haven't been that persistent, as far as I've seen. Well, first time for everything, and all that. ![]() |

Heh, I read a comment earlier this morning where someone was complaining FF4 was copying Opera, not Chrome. ![]() Maybe I'll see how one of the nightlies performs on the old hardware. It just seems easier to set up a separate installation and profile under Linux. (Not that I've tried it under Windows or OS X, though... ) |

I think I've read somewhere that Vista and Win7 automatically JPEG-compress the desktop background. (Not that I've really noticed on either of my Vista setups, but then, I haven't paid close attention to the backgrounds.)Prince Kassad: Win7 broke Unicode? How so? |

| Hrm. They'll (somewhat) admit Autorun has problems, but I'm still waiting for them to... say, turn "Hide extensions for known filetypes" OFF by default... ...among other things. (And why, for example, does it seem so easy for malware to write itself to %appdata% and run, without anything opposing it? Bleah.) |
