I don't know if it did (or would)... I only used it with Win98, a long time ago, and only thought about it now because I saw your post. I hadn't considered trying to get the reader to work with Linux, before.Heck, until I checked again last night, for some reason I thought it connected to the old 'standard' joystick port, which my Linux tower doesn't have. ![]() |

| Yeah, I've been using it to pull files from installers every once in a while, too. Now, if it does handle all forms of SWF, I'll be happy. ![]() |

Bleah. I've been meaning to hook my MIDI keyboard to (any of my computers) for years. ![]() I don't think I'd really need a gameport, anymore, even considering I do still have two generic controllers that use it (a cheap Gravis gamepad clone and one of those really old PC joysticks that you have to keep adjusting the pot levers). Other than that, I'd rather have just the USB<>MIDI interface, though supposedly, that's not as responsive as some like. ...and getting back on topic... ![]() My PSX card reader appears to have a serial connection, too. (I haven't pulled it completely free of the mess of cables behind my desk, yet. ) I do have one of those connections in the back of my tower, so... I'm guessing none of the existing Linux interface software should have a problem reading from it, in theory?(Yeah, I know it's been a while since my last post... I blame RL and travel. Hopefully, someone'll believe me. ) |

| How about... good old evil Cutman (from Mega Man)? Sure, I don't recall him ever being cut from anything (yeah, unintentional joke), but, hey! He cuts! (intentional bad joke) Do we really need a mascot, though? (No, seriously. I'm curious.) |

Are there any Action Replay codes for accessing the test rooms? I've been experimenting with the AR codes from BSFree (found here), and I've noticed the "Unlock Hard Mode And Time Attack" code also seems to change the game to Japanese (at least, in text, and on my cart). I'm not sure if it's consistent, though - once or twice, there were also subtitles for the text in the demo cutscene, but most of the time, they aren't there. Since it seems like both English and Japanese texts are in the game, could they have had an option to switch between languages (like in Super Metroid, for example)? I'll admit I haven't seen the Japanese version's Options screen, but the English (US) version's screen is rather sparse... Could there be a code to just swap the language, alone? I'm wondering if there's more than just Japanese and English, in the game (and since I only have the cart, I can't do a hex view...)

I thought I remember reading, somewhere, that Nico required you to have an account just to watch videos. ![]() |

| I couldn't tell you, offhand. Guess I'll just have to get around to experimenting with it. Hmm... I wonder if the Windows manager will work under Wine. |

| You're probably thinking of the katakana version of 'ri,' which is indeed drawn with two separate strokes. Though, you might see some brush-stroke renditions of the hiragana version with a break in the top arc of the kana. |

I thought they had that rule in place - and unmovable - to appease the great and powerful content providers. ![]() (Not that that stopped anyone from uploading TV shows, but... eh.) |

| ...except the Yen symbol in question is only shown in the US character set, above (note that the lowercase alphabet characters have overwritten the kana), and doesn't seem to be present in the Japanese ROM's character set. (At least, going by the images Imajin provided.) I've been familiar with the old Yen symbol/slash 'issue' since my DOS days, but I don't think this is it. ![]() |

Sounds about right. I can't wait for the videos that have the video stream disabled, but not the audio. (Rather than the other way around, as usual...) |

| Yeah, it does. It wouldn't surprise me if someone at Sega Japan just copied a Japanese font (the 'relevant' parts, anyway) from a devkit or something over the character set in preparation for SOA's localization team. (Edit: Or, given the timeframe, they could've just been using (modified?) Japanese devkits, anyway, and copied in the font as a quick-and-dirty solution. Maybe we should check the charset tiles for other games around the same period, to see if they did the same thing.) |

I don't know - I was never able to get Miranda to work the way I wanted it. Not saying it's bad, but that was several years ago, and I'd spent quite some time trying to get it to do certain things, but it wouldn't do it. (I don't really remember what the issues I had with it were, because it's been quite some time.) Maybe it's better, now, but I don't have much reason at the moment to try experimenting with it, again. ![]() I've been using Pidgin for a handful of years, now. It's not necessarily big on "eye candy," and doesn't necessarily support all of the 'flashy' details of every protocol, but if you're just looking for a regular IM client, to communicate, it might work for your purposes. For Windows, there's also Digsby, but I haven't tried it, of course, and there's reports they're bundling spyware with it. For Macs, I'd recommend Adium X. Haven't tried other multi-IM clients on Linux - there's at least two or three, that I'm aware of, but can't remember what they are... AYTTM, I think? I'm using Pidgin under Linux, as well, so... ![]() Online, there's sites like Meebo - I believe you have to sign up for an account with them, though, and I'm not sure about the idea of having an online service potentially have access to aspects of your IM traffic. (I know, I know, it's all online, anyway, and if someone really wants to snoop...) MSN, Google and AIM all also have online versions of their IMs, I believe. |

They need to create a Lego Doctor Who game. ![]() Which games? I'm familiar with the old "Daleks" games. I think there was a PC Doctor Who game I never really got to look into, and I've seen the puzzle game for the DS that had the tie in with David Tennant's Doctor... meh. |

Well, since I didn't know that a game for the Wii had been released (plus another for the DS), no. ![]() Just by the message board comments I've seen so far, alone, I'm afraid to look at the reviews or screenshots. At least the sonic screwdriver Wiimote looks a little interesting, though. Haven't seen the DS stylus they mention. If the game has low-quality models and a lot of targeting, would that mean it's better suited to a DS game, than a Wii game? |
