I posted ages ago about unused stuff in Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan, and I'm still having trouble with it, so I'm officially asking for help. I have no prior experience with DS hacking and I'm pretty much stabbing blindly in the dark. Every month or two I try to check it out again, get frustrated, and give up. Here's what I know/have done so far:
There's a bunch of used stuff in /data/2d/btl and /data/2d/hk. Each "image" consists of a palette (.nclr_), tile map (.ncgr_) and animation (.ncer_) (I _think_ that's what they are). It seems to be in some kind of non-standard format, or it in some way doesn't play nicely with current tools. For one, each individual file seems to be compressed. Tahaxan/Tihaxa (whatever it's called) seems to decompress them on the fly, but it can't read the .ncer files. I can view the .ncgr files, but I have to play around with the dimensions and change all of the palettes to palette 12 in Tihaxa. I then right clicked and saved them as .pngs. Here's the images from /data/2d/btl :

The pictures seem very incomplete, and though there's 15 of them in the folder, they seem to be these 5 images repeated in random order. There's a few more files in there, but I can't tell what they are or if they're used until I can open them properly. I'm pretty sure opening the .ncer files is the key.
I tried Tinke today, and it decompresses the rom and opens the files, but it gives me an "out of memory" error when I open the .ncer. Console tool opens the palettes and .ncgrs, but doesn't show the whole .ncgr, and when I try to load the .ncer the whole image disappears. I can't figure anything out in crystaltile. This is driving me nuts; I feel like there must be something really simple I'm missing. Can someone else try opening up this game and seeing what they can find? |

Why do people think putting NSFW warnings on pages would make people look exclusively for NSFW content to find? Why would having a NSFW template turn NSFW content into OMG HOT XXXX PRONS HERE? I agree it might be hard to define a line for what's NSFW and what's not, but if the Supreme Court knows it when they see it, I'm sure we can too
Yet another suggestion: put a disclaimer on the main page saying something along the lines of "There may be boobies on some of these pages so don't browse this site at work if your boss votes Republican!" That way it's up to the individual if they ding their work's web filter or whatever.
Edit: Probably should've read Bagel's post before posting mine... |

Originally posted by BlueWhirl Perhaps I should clarify what I meant when I said that I didn't want "NSFW tags" on the website. Many of the ideas suggested include flashy, annoying, or otherwise bothersome warnings. Not to mention the "spoiler boxes" and the idea to open up the image in a new tab, which would seriously chop up the flow of the pages. If a warning for potential NSFW content is necessary, then it should at least fit in with the page, no?
I'm seriously against censorship, or whatever you wish to call this, but I can understand people's concerns.
This isn't censorship. Censorship would be denying access to the pictures at all, either by editing them or refusing to have them on the wiki. This is just warning people they're about to see images that have nudity. Sorry but it irks me when people use that word wrong.
As far as chopping up the flow of a page, I've seen other wikis use expandable galleries to house large collections of images to save bandwidth (the pictures aren't loaded until the gallery is expanded), and it doesn't chop up pages at all - it actually makes them easier to navigate because you don't have to scroll through a million images. I really feel like you're just opposed to any sort of warning at all for some reason.
Anyway, it seems to have been taken care of. |

Then.... add it? (This isn't even the first time you've been told that) |

| Well, we do have entries for things that aren't unused but that most people would never come across. I would say this qualifies. (I found it interesting anyway) |

For anyone interested, A Thing is happening over at something awful:
http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3343771&pagenumber=175&perpage=40#post418861496 starts here
Click the little question mark button at the bottom left side of that post to view just posts from that user. He seems to be kind of gun-shy about releasing the docs, but I think this is pretty TCRF-worthy regardless. |
