| I don't know how many of you know me -- but I am `cen`; most well known for making the gameshark code to load the Arwing into Ocarina of Time with JayTheHam. Also multiplayer Ocarina of Time and play as Dark Link are up there as well.
I also did a few other nifty things; debug room in Wario 4, Metroid GBAs, Kirby; debug menu in Super Smash Bros. etc. You've probably seen my codes in action at some point. Regardless, the few of you who do know me are convinced I've gone insane and this couldn't be any closer to the truth. I dropped out of highschool in 2005 and ended up hacking / disassembling Zelda full time, which gave me incredible insights on how games were programmed and essentially all the skills I have today. One of the big motivators for my videogame world conquest of "hidden content" was a girl named Glitterberri. She and I had an on-off mutual (?) interest between each other for quite some time; eventually reaching a breaking point when my guardian / parent had gotten seriously ill. Regardless, dropping out of highschool basically had the effect of committing social suicide in a time when I probably needed to have people to talk to. Instead, I focused all my energy on Glitterberri, and convinced her to internet date me (which I thought was a bitter irony as I had always made fun of people who did such things). We talked every day over Skype -- I was thrilled to hear her voice because I had no other voices to hear. To impress her, I'd always try to find or create the coolest gameshark codes. Forgive me for being such a dork with that statement -- because as a 17 year old know-it-all I thought gameshark codes were the most badass thing ever. The problem is, I was very controlling and placed too much importance in virginity. Fast forward through a lot of overly obsessive gestures and many gameshark codes later -- the same day my guardian died, Glitterberri decided to no longer be my 'girlfriend' crushing the dream I had of meeting and moving near her. I had a delusion for awhile that I'd just up and leave when my guardian had died and work for Nintendo, certain that I was over qualified because I could hack some videogames (whoopa whoop doop). Enter the drinking phase -- my guardian had always a taste for whiskey and was awfully abusive most of nights when I was younger. As a result I had developed some twisted sense of morality that any sort of alcohol was terrible and drugs would lead to my doom. After Glitterberri left, I rummaged through the cabinets and found what liquor was left over and began drinking en-masse. At the time I thought I was really bad ass, again, for drinking and that I could outdrink anyone. Later on I'd realize I didn't have half the tolerance I thought I did. After months of drinking, it was decided that I would move to New York City and reconnect with my biological mother (whom was raised by my guardian aswell) who offered me to stay with her and her boyfriend so I could move on with my life. A haircut and a few hundred job applications later I was on my first job doing consulting in the healthcare IT industry. I made my first real "friends" in NYC who I've lost contact with since. Then I began looking for a replacement for Glitterberri. On craigslist none the less. I met a few girls, but they weren't virgins. Then my mother's boyfriend decided it would be a pleasant idea to randomly kick me out for no real reason with just my wallet and a dead phone -- so I used craigslist to find an apartment with seven asian girls (a 19 year old's fantasy world); but none of them were virgins! Oh alas! Eventually I got fired from, ironically not because I sucked at my job (which I did) but because the person I was working for was fairly insane. Then I drifted, consulting, doing computer repairs and met at a job a few very significant friends who got me to cut my hair, start drinking --- and finally do drugs. Then they brought me to a strip club. Essentially, leveled me up from a nobody to somebody with some degree of self-confidence. Two weeks later, I lost my virginity to a girl I would consider promiscuous. Then somehow ended up moving in. Personally I blame her for it, and the vodka; and even if she wasn't a virgin -- it was a pretty memorable experience. I broke an entire box of condoms, she vomited in her freshly done laundry and punched me in the face for not pronouncing prada correctly. Within a month she wanted to get married to me, offering me to have sex with how many girls I wanted to "even the score". I didn't foresee marriage, but really liked her so I stuck around. She had her issues, I'm still not really sure what they were. Eventually she went into a depressive winter mode, claimed she had SAD .. regardless that winter I spent Christmas with her, and for the first time in a long time I was pretty genuinely content and happy with life even though I wasn't making very good money freelancing. We started planning moving to Austin, TX together because she didn't like NYC. I told this to my client of the time that I'd be moving in a few months.. Then in February she started talking to her ex, who found her on facebook claiming his wife had cheated on him and professed his alleged love for her. She at first claimed that our relationship was more important than her talking to him. Then my client found a replacement for me and I lost my primary income and to top it off in the next few days he demanded she break up with me or he wouldn't talk to her anymore so she did. For reference we were in New York, and he was in Minnesota. She adamant on the fact she wouldn't date him, just talk to him. Also for reference, the dude is named Crocodile -- where as my furre persona is an Alligator. Eventually she mentioned to me during this time, the reason she dated me is because I reminded her so much of him. And suddenly it was declared that she would be spending her vacation time to check out Austin with him instead of me which meant I had to move out and find my own apartment because that meant they were more or less a couple. So she did, and I moved out. When she came back, I eventually came over to her apartment for some reason and she had left out a DVD she bought in Austin that she watched with him -- namely a movie I had been asking her to watch with me for a few months. So time passed, Cen Alligator visited his ex girlfriend a lot and bothered her because he missed her, tried to find a new girlfriend while slowly going crazy. At one point he could have gotten a steady girlfriend, but he was too far gone to care about her or their possible future together. Now he spends his time as the lead developer for a medical software company waiting for the day his sanity returns passing time by complaining about his ex girlfriend to Glitterberri whenever she is willing to listen. There is a lot I left out because I'm not going to name every drug I've done since, or describe random sex escapades -- but to say the least I've burnt the bridges, lost my virginity in the way the old me would have hated the most and made myself an island. This has been likely my divine punishment for being a complete douchebag to everyone earlier in my life. Now you share your alcoholism story! |
