after seeing videos of Automatic Mario, ProtonJon's Super Kaizo World level playthroughs, and a couple other challenging japanese smw hacks on youtube i became interested in making romhacks myself; after some fussing about with Lunar Magick and SMWCentral, i wandered my way to MFGG and M:FM, where i ended up much more interested in the NSMB assets.. after wondering if NSMB had an editor like SMW did, i ended up on a thread here where Ninji was posting findings about the New series' formats and his wip editor Reggie. though, since the roms of NSMB or NSMBW were far too big for me to patiently download, and i had no dumping tools, i didn't end up doing anything with those games.
a bit later, however, i became interested in Mario 64 hacking; messing around with VL-Tone's online utilities for mario, metroid, star fox, and especially his Toad's Tool 64 program was how i spent a lot of free time in late middle school and early high school, and the small "scene" for mario 64 hacking was at one point mainly located on this forum. Once i started getting into making my own assets for mario 64 hacks, i wound up making an account here to get some help and keep up to date with all the new tools. I quickly became the highest-monthly-posting user on the boards for a couple months, and then.... pretty much forgot about the board altogether for a year or so until the Star Fox Adventures kiosk demo was dumped and research into it started here; me using my fledgling programming knowledge to fiddle around with xdaniel's tools and slowly expanding on them is chiefly responsible for me getting into my current main hobbies of reverse engineering and homebrew.
