looking back, most games prevented prevented generation migration to the newer games until you reached the postgame and obtained the national dex - if they did the same for SnS for 'balance' or 'experience control' purposes i'd completely understand (and probably prefer?), but outright saying "sorry not at all" really doesn't make any sense to me. I mean, sure, i'll just keep my living dex in Home, and didn't really plan on importing pokemon into SnS, but

speaking of living dex, i'll be buying the game to keep that going. if the game's fun then it'll be a bonus

that's basically what Pokemon Home's gonna be on the switch from what i've gathered, the new Bank going forward that can hold any poke and you use to transfer between Go and Sleep and Sword/Shield (and migrate forward from Bank)

You'd have to decrypt it, and then you'll be able to open it with a utility. Whether there's an all-in-one program to do that or if each game needs its own i have no idea, though.

It's pretty much a game-by-game basis. Some changes are noticed and documented just by playing the game (graphical changes, for example), while others might be figured out after comparing the bytecode in the roms against each other, for mechanics tweaks or debug menu codes and such. For the people who contribute to TCRF, the articles are made after they look into the revisions and prototypes themselves and document it. If an article for a game hasn't been made, and revisions do exist, it just means nobody's looked into it yet, or at least haven't uploaded their findings.
