Describe your situation more clearly so someone can help you:
1. What operating system are you using?
2. What firewalls and/or routers?
3. Can you access your web server through http://localhost/? This should always work despite any firewalls.

any other information that may be relevant

...

Although, in VMWare, I always thought you could expand partitions. Maybe that was just RAM...

(Amusingly, I managed to copy Windows 98's OS by simply burning the entire drive (3GB) onto a DVD and copying it to a disk that had a Win98 MBR already)

Well I assumed he meant moving it to a different disk (image), it doesn't make much sense otherwise.

It's still not fundamentally different. Move the files, make sure the bootloader knows the new location, and boot. Really, it's that simple.

1. OmniSecure, which he mentions, is only for Windows
2. "I know it's not the router or the firewall (thorough testing confirms this)"
3. "and apparently only I can access it"

You fail miserably.

er...

1. He mentioned Apache, not OnmiSecure, which is available for dozens of operating systems.
2. Being thorough; who knows how man firewalls he has, maybe he only checked the Windows Firewall. Trust me, many users forget to look at all the details before reporting things.
3. Missed that, the only part that's actually incorrect about my post.

Things that are wrong with this:

1. Asking for a Wii Emulator? Come on!
2. Why ask for something you don't know how to use?

1. It's not too unreasonable, the Wii isn't very much more powerful than the GCN... and emulators for that exist.
2. heh

Sure.

W - Move Wiimote up
S - Move Wiimote down
A - Move Wiimote left
D - Move Wiimote right
Q - Rotate Wiimote counter-clockwise
E - Rotate Wiimote clockwise
Z - Tilt Wiimote upwards
X - Tilt Wiimote downwards
C - Move Wiimote towards screen
V - Move Wiimote away from screen

Or... use a Wii remote? (Requires Bluetooth support, USB dongles can be had for $1)

I would personally recommend one of DeltaAnime or EFNet... and would advise to stay off of either Freenode or OFTC (they really hate non-software-related channels).

But being that I never visit Jul's IRC anyway, whatever

Now that I'm in town, plain tap is fine.. I just keep it cold.

Try going to Las Vegas sometime... the water is so bad, that even a filter won't help (or will be too expensive to keep replacing filters).

I'm jealous... okay, Indigo² isn't all that hot anymore, but it's quite an impressive machine.

Did you get IRIX with that? If not, I'd probably find some Linux distribution for SGI machines (OpenBSD only supports the O2 ).

Windows Update, I hate you. Go curl up and die.

That's fine and all, except, you know, for most of us, it works.

Except, you know, when you have to install many systems from scratch quite often. Yay for Offline Update

The actual tapes that movies and TV shows are recorded on are much better quality than 1080p HDTV even, so yes, it's real high definition.

Ubuntu Server has Apache, PHP, Perl, and MySQL all preinstalled iirc. If not, then set it up anyway then read https://help.ubuntu.com/7.10/server/C/

You say that as if HD DVD was any better in such regards. Besides being made by Sony, Blu-ray has no real disadvantages from HD DVD.

Operating System really doesn't belong in "hardware stuff", but whatever.

Hardware stuff
Computer model: Gateway ML6720
Computer name: philipjfry
Operating System: Ubuntu 7.10
Processor: Pentium Dual-Core 1.4GHz
RAM: 1GB
Harddrive: 120GB
Graphics card: Intel GM965
Native Screen Resolution: 1280x800
Extra Monitor: Depends on my location; sometimes 1280x1024 or 1600x1200
Disc Drive: DVD±RW
Misc: Got this as a christmas present and it beats me old desktop (below), so I don't mind it... some minor issues needed to be worked around for Ubuntu, but it's entirely doable. Still recommend either Dell or System 76 for people looking for non-Windows OSes on a laptop

Software Stuff
Chat client(s): Pidgin, XChat (both with incoming text formatting stripped)
Email client: KMail (Best. Email client. Ever.)
Music manager: mpd
Video program: Kaffeine, Xine, MPlayer (in order of use)
Disc burning software: cdrecord, growisofs, k3b (no particular order)
Internet browser: Konqueror 3.5, Firefox 2.0

Hardware stuff
Computer model: Custom built from 2000~2001
Computer name: ???
Operating System: ???
Processor: Pentium III 1.4GHz
RAM: 256MB
Harddrive: 250GB
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500
Native Screen Resolution: 1600x1200 (usually plugged into the laptop)
Disc Drive: DVD±RW; NEC 3550A
Misc: I only really use this to burn stuff, since the laptop's burner flakes out on DVDs ~4GB

Software Stuff
Whatever the live CD I use contains. there's no OS on disk anymore

Usually whatever's best for the task.

Zip is a nice general purpose format compatible with every operating system under the sun. Only Hello World can beat it in number of ports. 7z is nice for personal stuff, or where I know the target is aware of 7-Zip (xk: No test feature? wtf? I use it all the time). tar.gz for backups

Oh, also I keep all my music in FLAC, it's generally the best supported lossless format around. If I had a portable player (I'm considering getting an iPod 5g and putting Rockbox on it...), I might see the benefits of using WavPack with its hybrid format (no need to re-encode just to get small lossy versions)

Even a Canadian gets it. For the vast majority of media in the United States, fair use simply doesn't exist.

You are still able to take a sentence or two of a book and quote it in a review; but you can't take five seconds from a DVD for its review (I guess it would be on video, or an oral report, I dunno).
