So....yeah...i'm mariomesser. I've been looking at this board for a while and I'm really impressed at what big things you've achieved. I love SM64 and all things related to it. I'd love to hack it and make/find new stuff, BUT

I have 0.00% experience on coding, hacking and everything that could be helpfull. Exept for ideas. These are rough ideas of mine witch could be helpful...I guess.

Now, I know that you can't run before you can walk, but here are some of my ideas witch might become possible as our knowlege of SM64 improves. They are only ideas, and I'm not forcing you to do anything.

so...well I do not have the courage to make a new thread...I'll put some of my ideas here

things with a ? mean that I'm not sure if it could ever happen, but it's just some ideas

1. Animated textures? That would be awesome for new possabilities.

2. Waluigi Pinball. The second I first saw those giant balls, the first thing that it reminded me of, was Waluigi Pinball. You could even try to rip it from MKDS or make a stage of your own...with lotsa BALLS! (just had to say it)

3 Bowsers castle? This made me a little bit sad about SM64, as I really missed the castle. Something with hallways, staircases and lotsa fire beams

4 waves???? now this is JUST an idea. We haven't even got to hacking the water yet and stuff....but imagine lethal lava land with waves....it would be so mutch harder and awesome!

5 new enemies???? imported from zelda, BK/BT or even goldeneye???? Scrap that. I would laugh so hard seeing mario walk around the dam level from Goldeneye. That would be soooo funny!

6 new bosses? Yeah. Not just harder, but really NEW bosses. Something like the tank from NSMB

7 SMG??????????????????????????? ok now this is where i'm really unseure if this is ever gonna happen, but how about you import the star wireframe, or however you call it, and replace the stars in SM64 with SMG's stars...change the cannons into warpstars, new backgrounds.

oh and Gravity ?^9001. I was stunned by F-zero X. Just how the cars sticked to the stage, even when it was upside down!! This was SMG 10 years before SMG even existed! This could be possible...no, IMpossible to do. But still, it's great just ot think about it

now, i have some idea on how this might happen....(note 0.00% hacking experience so I do not know if this works or not)

replace one of the trees with a chain texture, and make the climbing area longer...or something like 10 "trees" on top of each other....

soo.....whaddaya think?

Let me start off by saying, if anyone has a btter idea where I should put this, feel free to do so. I'm just a n00b. But a n00b with ideas.

So far, I've been focussing on two things: More research into SM64 beta and ideas for new levels.
(I had some files, but because I'm a n00b...where's the upload file button, OR how do I upload a file)

Let me start off with some interesting new footage of SM64 beta. Some of it is foreign, but it's still a good source.

Kicking off with:
A totally new vid!

Things i've noticed:
-there is a code that mario's face doesn't return to normal, but that you can keep stretching it. In this beta vid, you can see that that was normal (0:11)

-different 1st bowser room (0:36)

-Shiny spawn at (0:41-0:43). I don't rember that from the original

-BETA UNDERWATER MINE at (1:30)

-The stars were sprites: look at (1:44)

-beta jump at (O:14)

-the doors has plain numbers on them, not stars (0:40)

-beta chests? I think that they're a bit smaller then the real ones. decide for yourself at(0:47)

-bowser drops a lot of coins(BTW the coins do not have stars, just a vertical stripe) at (1:12)

-second time of proof that stars were originally goin to be sprites : (aslo 1:12)

-Mario runs fast (at 1:14)

-wierd star poof at (1:15)

I found something big! Well...I think that this was the E3 version. Look!

beta castle insides! I suspect this to be the earliest version of the insides. Really early. Different texture, no stairs and the steps in the middle differ from the "stairless" version as seen in other Beta vids. Also, it's entirely different from the final version. But the thing is. that the door witch normally leads to the stairs into the tower....leads to the first bowser battle. I suspect that that's for the E3, a small demo, with like 5 levels and one bowser battle.

oh and (0:20). Look at the doorknobs. Not round at all

so far fort the beta stuff...let's go to my ideas for levels/obstacles/enemies etc.
Before you continue, not this:

I have NO experience with hacking, modding or anything else. I only have ideas. And suggestions on how to create those ideas.

Lazers in Super Mario 64?

now, if you would take the final version of the beta flame, and replace the fire texture with a simple lazer (straight line for test puruposes). If mario touches the lazer, he should be electrocuted (little coding here and there could fix that) then, you take the lazer beam, and put like 5 of the next to each other, so that you have a LAZAR moving back and forth.

Rainbow Starman?

Just a little suggestion. Yoshielectron has created a code to make a starman mario. my suggestion is that you take this code, than put in the "timer" from the caps. Then he has this thing:

if you could apply that to a starman (maybe a totally new wireframe/shape or sutch), and take the "collect item=transform" and "item" part from the caps. You could have a starman, fully functioning like it did in the 2D mario games. If it works, you should make a stage where it is impossible to get a star without being invincible (for example Banjo-Kazooie)
And...how about some sparkles to come with it?

aslo, I think that SM64

lacked a star for witch you need to use the spin jump.
Create a lava level and make stationary rocks with snowmen on top of them(or use the trampoline to give you a spin jump) (just showing the basics. It's not final.) So that Mario has to jump on one, get a spin jump, float over to the next one, and so on. (I don't know if it's possible to do a spin jump out of a spin jump. We'll have to find out.) making a course...if mario misses one, he would get BURNED!

I'm finishing with the little thing: this could also be used to rise. I would suggest building a volcano, in witch you start below, jump onto somethign that gives the spin jump, and so on untill you reach the star on the top.
