Well, this is interesting. I opened up the Dance Dance Revolution PC executable in Notepad, and found system messages for a PS1 version (references to a memory card, etc.)... so I took a better look in a hex editor and I found two DDR song lists that mention songs that were never released on home versions.

And I think I found a list of song folders. The game stores record data in data\music\xxxx , where xxxx is a four letter folder name. I found a list of four letter names which seem to resemble songs from DDR 4th and earlier. (NINZ = Ninzaburo, DRLO = Dr. Love, etc.)

That's probably the Master Song List. I think it's in every post-3rd game. I know later ones have things like In The End by linkin park and Eyes on Me by Faye Wong on the list, even though we've never seen the stepcharts.

(actually, I think Eyes On Me was at the 4th mix Location Test, and just never came to be.)

Without going into further detail deciphering kanji, it's a few cool little recipes. The first one involves using fish paste and yakitori to make the starting lineup of cars with the gate over it.

The other side involves orange slices, a banana, broccoli, custard, and whipped cream (? maybe heavy cream) to make a car, a forest, and ostensibly Mt. Fuji. Probably a bonus page at the end of the Pole Position strategy guide.

Did you know that some employees of Namco (allegedly) have horrifying bedroom hygiene issues?

Did you know that one SNK programmer had a severe bone to pick with Nintendo?

Did you know that Deadly Towers has disassemble message for you?

i could go on and on, but these are my favorites. Also bbcode links suck to type on an iphone

All of my this. I usually get weird looks for this, but I despise TWEWY. I thought the gameplay was a hideous, overcomplicated clusterfuck that made the game impossible for me as a player to enjoy. (I also absolutely hate Tetsuya Nomura's art style, but that's a minor nitpick.) Trying to juggle two screens worth of a battle was honestly way too much for me at the time, and after trying a friend's copy, I pretty much wrote the game off as "This is something I will never play or enjoy."

Now, if this goes on sale, I might give it a try. It won't save the art from being Kingdom Hearts Lite, but I could probably ignore that if the game itself is good.

Speak of the devil, and he shall be Very Silly. Until a better name comes up, we can go with "assorted bits of niftiness."

In all seriousness, what would you like the thread to be named?

I feel like translating today. But I'm too lazy to think of euphemisms.
EDIT: I put in alternatives/euphemisms! yay localization-brain kicking in before I go to bed

Kunio: You guys shouldn't underestimate me.
ALT: You punks shouldn't mess with me.

Riki: Don't mess with me, asshole.
ALT: Don't underestimate me, punk.
(yeah, "Nameru" can go either way.)

Kenji: Fuck off!
ALT: Beat it, scum!

Masuzu: Don't underestimate me!
ALT: Don't mess with me!

Sabu: You bastard. (I think. It looks like "Ondoryaa", which is kinda like "Ondore" or "Ondora", which is a dialect version of "Onore", which is a really impolite way of saying "You.")
ALT: I really don't know.

The link doesn't appear to actually go to something. Also, Nenson: He said NES twice, man. D:

Not mentioned: the level-up system is the sphere grid from FFX, but larger and on stronger drugs. Also you get new skills by finding gems and socketing them into gear, and socketing is free and easily undone for free, etc. It's a lot like Diablo 3, if Diablo 3 were a better game. I was in the beta for it, enjoyed it greatly. D: I just need more HDD space so I can redownload it.
