| Paper Mario TTYD is AMAZING. It actually has reached the number four spot in my favorite games of all time. Each chapter is its own unique adventure, and all of it maintains a perfect atmosphere. The soundtrack is complex and quirky, the battle system is perfected, the dialogue is incredible, and the art style is down right awesome. Definitely a must have for RPG fans and GCN/Wii owners. |

Originally posted by Lunamon I liked the first game, but actually, I have trouble playing it now. Compared to TTYD, it's really boring. TTYD has much better characters also. Goombella is my favorite game character. Her dialogue is brilliant. |

Originally posted by BlackNemesis13 I completely agree with all of this. And to boot, PMTTYD's story line may seem cliche at first, but you probably know just as well as I do that the developers backed the plot with a lot of underlying details that only die-hard fans/perceptive fans would catch. PMTTYD entertained me so much that I actually completed it 100% and also made an effort to see each cut scene with every character and see all of the game's dialogue simply because I found it astounding that the writers were able to pull off so many personalities as flawlessly as they did. Anyway, I was really surprised that they even had a

Originally posted by Gwendolyn Listen closely to the battle theme. It's far from generic. Yuka Tsujiyoko and Yoshito Hirano (music composers) are experts in their fields. Yes, the Mario Bros theme is heard in there, but pay attention to how much effort went into the all of drum patterns, and note all of the zany synth work that backs everything up. This applies to the whole soundtrack actually. Some of the music blows me away. The file load menu song after the title screen is a really underrated song, I'd say. It doesn't loop for about a minute and a half, but it has some really crazy parts to it. Then again, I'm a video game musician myself, and I always like paying attention to the production of game music. ^^; But yes, the battle theme in PM1 was quite nice as well. Gotta love Tsujiyoko. She knows how to write. SPM isn't so much of a rip-off as it is just not Paper Mario-esque enough to hold fans' interests, I'd say. |

Originally posted by Gwendolyn Each boss has their own battle themes. I won't spoil them by naming the ones I like, but some of them are just plain awesome. A lot of the music reminds me of the trip-hop genre, which is one I love. But yeah, Chapter 1 is pretty much their homage to PM1 in the sense that it's similar to PM's first chapter. But after Chapter 1, the game goes from average to insanely epic. Chapter 2 displays an incredible art direction, Chapter 3 has the best and most mysterious atmosphere, Chapter 4 is tricky and beautiful looking, Chapter 5 is very adventurous, Chapter 6 is based on a set of mysteries and is backed by an awesome concept for an RPG level, Chapter 7 (starts annoyingly, but) becomes epic as heck, and Chapter 8 puts all of your skills to the test. So yeah, you'll love it. Also, sorry I'm rambling so much on this game. It's one of my favorites, so... I mean, I have 74 hours on the game mostly from talking to everyone before and after each chapter, and such. ![]() (NOTE: if this double posts by accident, blame the forum, not me. I got an error after trying to post this) |

| Feels like this could make for interesting lyrics to a song. Heh. The only line I had any particular issues with was 'What can you rhyme on the spot?' because it felt like it broke the flow a little. Other than that, this is quite interesting, and I like it. |

| Back when I was a prog-or-die nerd, I tried getting my band to do a concept album based off the four seasons. And the album would be four twenty minute epics (one for each season). ... Then I realized I was being a fucktard. What about you guys? |

Originally posted by messiaen At the time yes. No pun intended. I still love old-fashioned prog, but I've spread my tastes to be open to any sort of music. My favorites genres at the moment are experimental, noise, psychedelic, trip-hop, electronica and post music along with my liking for prog/progressive. All of my albums before that idea were arguably worse and even more pretentious, so I'd say to add those to my list of worst ideas as well. When I make music with a band of my liking sometime in the future, it'll be great, and that I'm sure of. I'm so glad I didn't go with any of my old ideas.

| Anyone do better than me? I've got 72 hours on the game and am Level 34. Beaten 100%. All journal, all Pianta Parlor Times, Pit of 100, all Trouble Center, all Star Pieces, and I'm pretty sure I've talked to every NPC you can talk to before and after every chapter in the game. And due to my love for the script, I'd even reset most of the cut scenes and enter with another party member just to see the extra text. Oh, and I fairly certain I've had Goombella tell me about every area and NPC in the game. XD (edit) Hey by the way. Has anyone ever deciphered and read the poem made out of the blue text in between the hints given in the Riddle Tower? I used to have it written down, but can't remember it now. Its so creepy! This game has so many weird secrets in it. How awesome. |

Originally posted by Sukasa I agree that two is the hardest if you're trying to play it 'well' (aka, collect stuff and get a good rank, etc.). One certainly tried to be the hardest though. Four is a bit of a joke, Megaman-wise, and three, in my opinion, was perfect all-around. Anyway, I am really looking forward to this. I absolutely LOVE this series. I own the remastered soundtracks and the official art-book. So, I'll definitely be adding the game collection to my Zero collection.
