If you've been paying attention to the game release calender, it's been a massive year for sequels. Going by the US main and spinoff ones, but not compilations/imports/etc...
Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 = PS2 DBZ #8.
The Legend of Spyro- The Eternal Night = GBA Spyro #6.
Tony Hawk's Proving Ground = PS2 Tony Hawk #8.
WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2008 = PS2 WWE/WWF #8.
Madden NFL 08 = PS2 Madden #8.
What do you think of the ongoing trend?

Well, The last three are pathetic excuses for games and should be shot. I've never heard of nor played the spyro GBA games, so meh. The DBZ games are actually pretty decent, from what I've played of them. You forget that 90% of the video gaming industry is sequels. What games do we look forward to most? The next Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Pokemon, FF, etc. If sequels are good, it doesn't really matter that they're sequels, but if a company just gets lazy and milks a franchise for all it's worth without making it much better, it's not okay.

340 | I dunno... one DBZ game, I accidentally defeated the final boss by pressing one button and kicking it to death 
Then, upon beating the game, I unlocked a gigantic Broly guy and punted green midgets everywhere. It was amazing, seeing the 20-foot man smash them into the ground like ants.

Well... I found WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2007 on Xbox 360 to be one of the best wrestling games based on a major promotion ever made. Seriously, it is that good. Up there with such industry landmarks as Pac-Man or Ocarina of Time.

Then clearly they really fucked the PS2 version up. That game actually seemed hostile to me. Cheap AI, horribly glitched announcers, hitboxes that made no sense at all...

I have to agree with the earlier sentiment that sequels are not necessarily a problem... the problem is crappy games, which can be sequels, but are just as often not...
