I probably would have done the same.
Suppose there's 20% chance to get a rupee, and a 10% chance for it to be worth 5 instead. That would make the rate of rupees per creature...(.2(1.05)) is that right?

But, continue being two?

In the origional Legend of Zelda there were times when you had to choose between a heart container and a red potion.I would always choose the heart container because once it's gone you can never get it back. It's almost the same situation that you have except it's switched around, in the long run you probably benefit from having that extra heart container and you can always get the 500 rupees back.

I obviously chose to lose 500 ruppees, though this quest is very horrible. A little before this, I had to spend 500 ruppees to get a Goron mask, so I had to do a little grinding to get 500 more. Sadly, it get's worse....

Well, this quest goes up to 3 rows of hearts, I think. Also, there are 2 more masks I have to buy later in the game after I get the largest Wallet that are 750 and 999 ruppees.

Wow, this game keps throwing surprises at me. I go the fire and Ice rods, but when I got it, that guy stole it from me and gave me a fake boss key.

Also, the compass in the last dungeon was also fake. Obtaining the compass made the map dissapear.

and to make things better, there was a point where there was 2 ways to go, a correct way and an obvious incorrect way. being the (9) I am, I chose the wrong way...
