Until today...I've never even heard of it.

I about shat bricks upon checking bugcheck logs on a Burntable system that we got in today that was a replacement/return to stock. I figured it was some sort of virus...probably moreso now unless someone hacked this system to bits. I don't know of a single user that we cater to that could do this, at least...

Why M$ would name a stop error that is beyond me...but I seriously laughed a good minute when I read it and then immediately looked the stuff up to see if it was a joke or not.

At least it's obvious that it's intentional, so...

But see, here's the thing...

I did a Google search on it and apparently it's not always deliberate. It's SUPPOSED to be but there are plenty of systems (most Vista, from what I read) that get this error.

What else would you expect it to do if it's called DEADDEAD?

Well, at that stage they're should just call it something like DAMNDEAD...

Or OVER9000...

And then there's "00DECADE" even if it's not really that funny...

Though #C0FFEE is a pretty nice light color to look at, definitely.

Wikipedia has a section full of them.

I had heard about 0xDEADBEEF before, but I never knew it was so widely used...
