See here.

It more or less hangs around the 'unauthorized use against copyright' thing that they've been going on about. Now it's for the audio.

I can expect to see a large portion of You-Tubers leaving the site for some place better, where they aren't going to put up with the trouble. Eventually, youtube will become a small, un-populated website, because nearly anything can be copyrighted.

Gah...

Which would actually be great--YouTube users are generally, well, complete dumbasses.

But, with many (worthwhile) videos using OH FUCKING GOD COPYRIGHTED audio, it's pretty far beyond ridiculous. Nazi Germany has been revived.

I'm beginning wonder how long until they just completely annihilate videos entirely until they're "approved" by an elite team of copyright checkers. THIS VIDEO CONTAINS 7 PIXELS OF COPYRIGHTED CONTENT DENIIIIIIIIED

It's going beyond ridiculous. There are few reasons I still use YouTube (two of them being it's easy to use and annotations), but how long until one of my videos is taken down for this kind of thing because OMG GAME MUSIC.

sigh

I ran to check the one video I have on there that's already been flagged as using copywritten music but it's not muted yet. Still, this is getting dumber and dumber. First, they did away with the Director's account's over 10 minute privilege, now this. Other places are starting to look more and more appealing.

Vimeo, which a few other people seemed to like, doesn't allow movies featuring games for some reason or another, so you can scratch that one off your lists if I'm remembering right.

Ah right, I remember seeing the result of that happening when I was over on SA for a while. Vimeo was deleting the let's plays on there and people were scrambling to archive them. Seems silly to me that they wouldn't allow gaming videos, but from what I've heard Vimeo is a great video site with two shitheads running it.

And now I've been hit in a sense, not by the muting, but by stupid copyright crap. I uploaded a recording of me getting an A+ on Through the Fire and Flames in Stepmania, only to discover that my video had been blocked worldwide because of the copyrights in the song. And yet, there are plenty of Dragonforce songs and recordings uploaded onto Youtube.

Between this muting thing and Youtube's nazi-like copyright policy, I don't know what to think anymore. Maybe Google Video is the way to go. They don't seem to care what you upload, which is strange considering Google owns Youtube...

I seem to recall Google Video had an approval system for uploading, but that might've been from long ago.

Why? Google Video was/is better than Youtube in most ways! I'll follow along with this when they remove the stupid 10-minute time limit.

(Is there actually a purpose for the time limit? I don't think it's a bandwidth thing, they allow unlimited uploads to every user, so why the time limit? Seems silly to me...)

I've been told it was done to keep people from uploading entire episodes of TV shows, but you can still split it into two or more parts (hello [insert movie name] Part 8... ).

As evidenced by the massive amount of videos of tv shows.
