somebody: "you should post something anyway"

me: "nothing has compelled me to yet."

somebody: ":/"

I now have a reason:

Over the past year and a half, this monitor I have been using (it replaced a CRT which suddenly died on me) has been showing signs of dying...or something. After bugging a friend for 2 weeks, I finally was able to borrow his camera, and now the monitor can be shown.

It has been getting progressively worse over time. Eventually it'll need to be replaced, and I hope I can afford it when that time comes.

BMF is here, you know. You can say his name.

He actually showed me that last night. Weirdest death ever.

That looks like the LCD slowly burning up from the inside.

Better is a 'black death' I've had in -2- Samsung D807s. One crack and the ink just pours over the screen in a short amount of time (due to overheating on the LCD's surface).

Lucky for you, LCD monitors are cheap as hell now. A regular 17" goes for 89 bucks now.

Way to remain incognito there, Xk.

That's about $80 more than I have.

In retrospect, it was either him or Hiryuu. I doubt bags would be telling you to post here, considering.

On that end, ooh, black goo explosion. A few old GBCs/etc I've seen did that. Fun to mess with when bored, at least.

Hmmm, my monitor recently started having some problems that I don't know what caused them. The far left and top of the screen seem to be slightly cut out... For example, if I look all the way up to the title bar (when Firefox is maximized), I see "Mozilla Firefox" but a few of the characters are slightly cut out plus the Firefox icon is missing the top-left part. The same happens for the icons in my desktop and every other application.

It's not really bothering me that much though...

Is it an LCD? Maximize a window and run auto-adjust.

There's a few things that can cause an LCD to do this:

- If the screen resolution or refresh rate has changed, the display may use previously saved (incorrect) settings.
- If you run auto-adjust while the top or left of the image being displayed is black, the LCD may misinterpret it as not part of the display and chop it right off.
- If the screen resolution is too large for the display, it... won't fit.

If it isn't an LCD, you should look into getting a LCD. It's too bad they're so expensive, though.

Thanks a lot! It worked!
