Finally bought a new pack of smokes. Due to certain circumstances with not being able to get out of the house much, I smoked my last old, crusty cigarette last night, pitched out the empty pack and got a nice, fresh one this afternoon on the way to work.

Triple-header of negativity, of which one's been resolved and one is in the process of being as such:

NT computer hard drive needed out today. Hard drive clone didn't work right. Had to create one and every time I went to install on seperate computers, DVD/CD drives, hard drives, etc. it would crash immediately after it got to the CD-Rom File System and it would end up deep-sixing into the blue chains of death (a variant on BSOD, funky vid-glitch). Tried a third comp with reduced RAM and it worked but it's working at a slow pace and I have two hours to get it out the door.

FakeAlert has, more or less, destroyed our server here. It has got to the point where our main website was redirecting to some pr0n site and the amount of 'XP Antivirus' crap and variants coming up has become increasingly apparent. We've got a computer today that had it down so bad that it had 12 SVChost processes running and most of it was hacked/invasive ones at that. The most recent before that was a Service Tech comp biting the big one over an overwritten WinLogin process with something else, a lack of administrative privileges and the inability to edit the registry due to how a piece of code was written. HJThis was incapable of doing anything to it, thanks to that fact.

The final kicker was I was using HJThis on a comp that had this, it got the format because it was mistaken for the hard drive. That was resolved by GetDataBack but god if I wasn't pissed at the guy that dropped the partition out on it.

It has NOT been a day here.

NT comp turned out to be XP.

Had to fly an XP comp out in 30 minutes after fscking with an NT comp for 5 hours.

Not happy.

Negative side: I fought against viruses at the office all day. This included MBR ones.

Positive side: Turned my iPood into an iBrick. 42-hour lithium polymer battery came in for it. Replaces my dying battery.



6 hour charge time.
