Mother inserts credit cards on Wii, literally.

[00:47:41] @Cirvante> nani za fakku?
[00:47:46] @Viarra> she was dumb enough...
[00:47:47] @Viarra> okay
[00:47:57] @Viarra> she was gonna buy VC games
[00:48:00] @Viarra> for her kid
[00:48:17] @Viarra> so the guy told her to go to the shop channel
[00:48:17] @> hoston, we have a retard
[00:48:22] @Viarra> and insert the credit card

[00:48:27] &Hiryuu[zzz]> that's about the same as putting change in the floppy disk drive
[00:48:27] @Viarra> obviously he meant number

[00:48:37] @Viarra> she used the whole card
[00:48:38] @Viarra> AND
[00:48:42] @Viarra> when it didn't work
[00:48:49] @Viarra> she shoved TWO MORE in there
[00:48:52] @Viarra> now
[00:49:02] @> 3 is better than 1
[00:49:10] @Viarra> why in the hell would you think that shoving TWO MORE in there after ONE didn't work be a good idea
[00:49:10] @Cirvante> Third time's the charm?
[00:49:18] @Viarra> not for her
[00:50:53] @Acmlm> haha

I didn't feel like repeating what I'd already said.

I totally believe that this actually happened. I swear, if I told some of my customers to do this, they would. If you don't know how to work a system, do research on it!!!! Or if anything, read the damn manuals!!!

Less and less people read the manuals.

Heck, I don't read them either, but at least I have a thing called "common sense".

I remember Sonicandtails showing us the original post from NEOGaf. Oh lord... that's too funny to even believe it to be true...

It MAY happen, and although we (our generation probably) will find things like these really astounding, others won't.

I know someone who has no clue about computers, but is a solid person (not born here, but a very small village overseas). He told me something about "I got two computers from a friend of me, could you help me connect it", as he really had no clue - there were actually two screens, but only one machine (which is ancient by the way - or do you still have one running with EDO-RAM and an ISA-slot?). Told him to throw that junk away - due to various RAM errors in memtest, some defective sectors found by SeaTools and, of course, way too little power to browse the internet properly (aside from playing older games), as he's an innocent person otherwise which does not care about those grey, or coloured, machines the whole world uses.

Well, some people probably really don't care about stuff. Otherwise usually it's those people who think they know everything who do things like this, sadly. Think about someone who claims to do everything perfectly, just setting up house electronics without the proper equipment, and then they will hit the power supply line - and this could get expensive if you need to call the proper electrician ...

As for reading the manuals, usually it SHOULD be -> RTFM before first use. But on the one hand most people already set up a video game console or even a computer by their own several times and probably know how to do this (TV/HiFi system <-> console, electricity, Control Pad and stuff), on the other hand many electronic devices have on-line (not 'online', just meaning the device itself has an installation guide built-in) guides, which show up on the operating screen and such.

Yeah, and the original guy (Who happens to be one of the lone members of the Sonic Unleashed Defense Force) hardly lies on NeoGAF, so yeah =\...

Some people are truly stupid.

I'm sure that future generations will laugh at our generation when we actually try to enter a number into a game console.

Of course, that probably wouldn't actually break the thing, but you get my point.

Yeah, I heard about that one on the news. Not only could he have sold it, but he would've gotten a great price because Wiis are pretty hard to find around the holidays. Some people are just stupid.

Then there's the fact it was a gift as well, you don't complain about gifts. The person was kind enough to buy something for you. Bah.

Fixed. Not an improvement, though.

I hope the grandmother realizes that this guy is just plain screwed up to begin with. If you take your loved one down stairs by her hair over something as trivial as that, then you obviously have something wrong with you to begin with. If he's not somehow mentally challenged, then who's going to place bets that alcohol was involved?

Judging by his mugshot and by the fact that he didn't just purchase a plane himself instead of complain, he's obviously a poor bastard who most likely lives in the ghetto with all related stereotypes applicable. Too bad we don't get that kind of information from the news though, just the fact that it was a Wii that caused the problem. A Kotaku commenter points out:

The guy is really addicted to RC planes, and that is what made him go crazy, the fact he didn't get one of those, not the fact he got a Wii.
So it's the Wii's fault.

And if he had wanted a Wii and got a plane and went crazy, it's still the Wii's fault.

Both ways, gaming loses.

I hate the news.

I never read manuals, but then again, I know what I'm doing. If someone who has no clue on how to operate, then they should read the manual.

We get so many calls on why they're new Wii mote doesn't work because they didn't read that they have to sync it to their system first.

Now I can sorta understand they most people don't know that it had memory built in (flash anyway), so we'll get a few people trying to buy a mem card, but when we tell them that the Wii has memory, they're like "ooooh, so I don't need the memory card." Unless you run out of space, then no. Or if you want a back up.

It's funny when we tell customers about the different XB360 systems and we mention the hard drives. And then they ask us, "whats a hard drive for?".

Try being a customer behind these people in a GS. I just want them to get out of the way of the five-minute ordeal of hearing what a hard drive is and the differing systems it goes to out of the sales pitch that is regurgitated so I can get my shit and get out. :\

WHAT AM I BUYING A COMPUTER?!

Uh...duh? Ever since the Atari? Way moreso in this modern day and age?

Anya, if I worked there, here's what I'd say.

"Are you going to be downloading a lot of games or movies or do you want to put some media on your system?"

If the answer is YES, direct to Pro/Elite. If the answer is NO, direct to Arcade. Simple!

(Then again, people aren't satisfied with simple answers these days...)

Not the arcade! The Pro. The arcade is worthless since it comes with only a memory card and in a few months(?) they're going to make the arcade with flash memory, like the wii.
