According to FoxNews ... A former Beverly Hills, Calif. liposuction doctor fueled his and his girlfriend's SUVs with human fat sucked out of his patients.

If we can do that then why not allow it? There are many people who want to lose weight, and many others that want to save the environment. Plus America is one of the fattest countries in the world (used to be fattest).
What's your opinion on this?

Somehow, I don't think human fat will be a seriously considered alternate resource any time soon.
I'd state my reasons, but I'm pretty sure it should be obvious once you think about it. |

Yeah, not only it'd be expensive, it would also be unethical. But I find it interesting that scientists nowadays can power a car with fat.

I think it's more this than anything: How many people would want to get liposuction just to go on a drive, and how many would get that just so somebody else can go on a drive? Not to mention the fact that it apparently took several people's fat to fuel just one car, but I digress.
It's not really that interesting that human fat could be used to power a car, as this fat is, of course, a form of energy. I've also seen cars run on fats before, so the fact that this particular fat works is unsurprising.
What I find interesting about this article is that it says California has a law against using medical waste to power vehicles. I'm curious as to if there is actually a law that plainly states that you can not use medical waste to power vehicles (and if there is, how it came to be), or if it's just covered by something a lot more general. |

Taking it straight from patients for fuel purposes would border on huge problems with medical ethics, to say the least.
Cloning it for alternative...maybe not as much, but the production rate would have to be as tremendous or far more than the current state that OPEC lies.
Honestly, the practicality of it kinda blows. :\
