I'll be around.
I almost can't wait for the holiday season to end so I can get back to splendor of springtime. I thrive on spring weather, I swear.

Christmas is the 25th, doofus.

Maybe should have mentioned that (As some people mentioned) in my country we consider Christmas to be the 24th. I always forget that...

Fröhliche Weihnachten, everyone! In Germany, all celebrations are done on the 24th as well.

25th and 26th are there as First and Second Christmas Day, respectively, but.. even though they're official holidays, they're just there. Maybe others with big families and such are celebrating these, too, but we haven't ever been doing any major stuff beyond the 24th, so I don't really know.

Anyway, we're going to set up our Christmas tree in around 4 hours (at 3 PM). Afterwards we're going to open presents already. Reminds me that I still have to wrap mine.
Oh boy.. I suck at wrapping stuff :x

I have the 25th and 1st off.

Work's making us come in on Boxing Day and if you don't, you lose the time-and-a-half pay being offered as well as stat pay for Christmas and Boxing Day. In other words, if you skip the 26th you're losing around $300.

I'll be watching a lot of videos tomorrow, so I'll probably not get much done with my homework. We'll be opening our presents after midnight, like we usually do.

My dad will also be closing earlier tomorrow. That will leave us with a lot of time to do stuff without any interruptions, so my brother won't complain.

Today, the 24th, is gonna be a loooong day for me. I open, so it 5:30am and the store opens at 8am and knowing people, it'll be busy so I'll be stuck there until we close at 6pm. And we have marketing and an FSI to set up for, so I might not get out of there until 6:30 or 7pm. Then I head home for some egg nog and whatever I feel like. Tomorrow it's off to the in-laws. Hopefully not too early cause I've been waking up mad early and I have to wake up even earlier on the 26th. The 28th I'm off and I think I'm going to take New Years Day off. We're suppose to take New Years Eve and New Years Day off, but I don't like working on my birthday and since I am only allowed to have two days off....

So far I've gotten a $25 dollar gift card to Chilis and I got my husband a fully backwards Ps3, which technically is both of ours.

My mothers' family holds a big Christmas celebration on the 24th, so I'll be going there this afternoon and tonight... tomorrow I actually don't think I have much planned, outside of going to mass and opening presents that don't get opened today.

My stepmother's getting various odds and ends to a few things, including a shirt to hide all of it in the present. It's a gag - Crazy Frog. Large no less...she's a tiny thing so it's a gag part of it.

My father's getting an 8GB iPod Nano. He's been more or less vying for one since the last year and I got my stepmother the very same then but he didn't express an interest until this last year when his cell phone was 'the big deal' to play MP3s. Easy take there.

Both are also getting 8GB USB flash drives, Sandisk.

All in all, not too terrible. I did a little more last year though.

Those are some pretty cool gifts.

We usually rest around these 3 days, and don't do much. We're gonna have pizza for supper tonight. On the 25th is when we have our big dinner, but we're still gonna rest all day. We aren't going to do anything on Boxing Day either since that's when everyone plans on doing everything after Christmas.

I already went to Mass just now. We're all preparing for the Christmas Eve Italian heritage 'Fish-fest' as my sisters call it... I'll probably stay up with my parents and help with the gifts under the tree. Then I we're having company over tomorrow night where we'll most likely break out the massive turkey we've had sitting in the fridge.

Frohe Weihnachten~ ^^

I'm hoping that all of our snow doesn't melt away with the rain we're getting now. =/ It would've been nice to have a 'white Christmas' here for once.

My family celebrates both Christmas Eve and Christmas day, Eve because we're Swiss, day because we're Canadian. However, here, they seem to celebrate mostly Christmas day, with Christmas Eve being kind of .. a bonus bit of holiday, or something. I dunno. The Eve isn't as big of a deal, anyway.

When do you put up your Christmas tree? My family used to always put theirs up on Christmas Eve, making it a family event kinda thing, and we'd keep it up 'til January 6th. (Real trees can be silly, and I guess my mom didn't want a carpet full of pine needles.) Here, we have an artificial tree, and it goes up some time in December, and comes down.. sometime, usually before Valentine's Day. heh. I prefer real trees, but a housemate's allergies apparently prevent such things (pollen in the sap, or some such?) here.

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas! ^^

Fröhliche Weihnachten, Aiya!

Personally, about the tree, we usually get ours a week in advance, but that's because we're Italian (I'm part German as well, so I'm aware of their customs too) and don't have much of a tree tradition other than it's always gotta' be a real one. Your old tradition of putting it up on Christmas Eve sounds very much like the traditional Germanic custom. You being Swiss, it kinda' makes sense.

We've been using the same artificial tree for a very long time now and we always put it up on the first weekend of December. It's a pretty long job as we have over a hundred ornaments to put up and it starts to get really boring and repetitive after a while . I'll be here until mid-night too, it's to bad that the time I'm finally on IRC that it's so dead

This year was different for me.

Christmas Eve night we got my brother and I to organize the gifts under the tree. Normally my mom and dad do it, but since my brother has his two kids coming over they wanted him to do it for a change... and I guess they wanted me to do it for the same reason? I don't know.

Picking up my gifts then I can already tell it is clothes and other things I am unsure of. It is kind of scary...

Right now I should be sleeping but my body has other plans in terms of me not being able to actually go to the bathroom. God dammit, why does my body have to have something wrong with it on Christmas day? Last year I ended up being low on fluids somehow and ended up in the ER that day with an IV in my arm.

Not fun.

Well...I did get a really nice kitchen set from my uncle. Probably his way of saying "sorry I've been such an ass". I forgive him.

Mom let me pick out THE cutest visual-style dress. I'll be getting it on new years. My cousin also gave me his old guitar. Most people just got me money and clothes. Some nice perfume, too.

I bought auntie a Macbook. Nyah, she better like it.

I'll be on my feet and in the kitchen most of today, but knowing this family and by association family friends, I'll probably end up stuck playing MGS4/Red Steel instead. I'm hoping for Bomberman myself. Merry Christmas :3

Family gifts include: Air Hockey table (I don't know who gave my parents this idea... we've got no fucking room for it...), Panasonic Speaker System (which, I must add, was a beast to set up, but is still amazing.)

For me: Gift cards: $25 - Gamestop, $25 - Best Buy, $100 - Sears (Holy fuck... Thanks, Aunt Lucy), $15 - iTunes (Got it from my boss, but I think I'll give it to someone I know who can use it.) Clothes. Clothes. Clothes. And uhhh... 2 DVDs and a soundtrack that I had already pirated, but I figured it's good enough to get a real copy of so I asked for it.

I gave my dad a movie. Got some coffee for my mom. I got my sisters NiGHTS Wii. I heard it wasn't that good, but I was on a tight budget since I was broke, so I went with the best thing I could find within my price range...

As for how I'm going to spend my day... We're going to have company tonight. I've been in the kitchen all day setting up. I've been assigned the task of preparing and baking the lasagna, so I guess I can feel for you somewhat Erika.
