Hungary and Austria do it on the 24th as well .. except they do it at night, which could actually be a lot better than in the morning due to family dinner and such.

Well, I guess you could argue that the night of Christmas Eve is part of Christmas, as some families open presents that night and have big fancy dinners and such.

According to my friend (who is, in fact, Hungarian), they do all of their celebrations on the night of the 24th. To them, the 25th is just another day. They still consider it "Christmas" and call it that, even though it falls on a different day.

We usually celebrate it the day before here as well (although Christmas is really on the 25th) ... but I still have work tomorrow (and next week), barely even realizing Christmas comes this week

For the first time ever we have relatives coming over for dinner on the 24th although we're not opening any of the presents they give us until the 25th. I guess it doesn't really matter what day it is celebrated as long as it is celebrated at some point
