Hello world, I've been working on some stuff for a forum and I'm working on a Super Smash Bros 64 game featuring a few of the forum's members, and I am one of the techno geeks there, now I'm just a basic startouter at Nintendo 64 hacking, don't get me wrong, I'm not a newb going the "hey is there an editor for (GAME HERE) and if so can i have it plz?" way and I'm already aware that ROM hacking an unfocused game such as Super Smash Bros is a very long task, I may not even end up finishing it, as I do with all my other programs, but I do have SOME tools to help me, this includes an N64 disassembler and a hex editor. I also have a corrupter called ROM Corrupt, though I don't exactly know how to use it yet nor do I know what corrupting is for.

But I'd like to ask, if it isn't against the rules, which I sadly could not find in this board, if there are any tools and beginner tutorials that can help a newbie at SSB64 ROM editing, I have by the way googled for it and have not found anything, so forgive me if I could've found one myself or missed it.

Thank you muchly in advance.

If you can't find any on Google, they probably don't exist.

For future reference, the rules can always be found at the Rules/FAQ link at the top of the page next to the Ranks link and the Stats link. (And make sure you read the SM64 Hacking Forum's Rules if you ever get into SM64 hacking, as those rules are a lot more strict and specific)

Any way, I have never heard of or seen any SSB specific tools, let alone any "real" SSB hacks. Chances are, if you are to make a full SSB hack, you'll be on your own.

A corruptor does what it's name implies: it corrupts the ROM. Corrupting only part of the ROM is helpful because it will let you know if the data you're looking for is in that part of the ROM. For example, if you corrupted a section of the ROM and it caused the music to glitch out, it means the music data is stored in that section.
