Yea...

Sounds like something you'd expect out of a horror novel or something...

Please excuse me while I vent my desire to punch these people in the face as hard as possible.

So, instead of taking measures to insure that these people are getting something out of a corrective punishment, they toss them away into rooms. This is horrible, and by the looks of it, is making things worse.

It's things like this that increase my desire to become like Captain Nemo and just live out my life in personal enjoyable seclusion.

This is probably fueled by the inability to take care of 'special needs' children effectively.

It apparently takes a lot of patience...so this is the shortcut.

There were a few of those at the high school I went to, though perhaps not quite as extreme. I spent enough time in them to know the details, up to and including how to escape through the ceiling should I have reason to.

Fuck, they had me in there for entire days. Even for lunch; that was brought to me.

It was because of my anger issues... and let me tell you, being stuck in a small, windowless, undecorated room did nothing to help. Bunch of fucking morons.

EDIT: This isn't the cause of my current custom title, but hell, it's related enough.

Makes me wonder if something like that falls under the 'blind obedience' part of this article I was reading today:

http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/12/19/milgram.experiment.obedience/index.html

Basically, it's about how people will go through and do the worst things to people and not really care about what happens to the other individual as long as it's not happening to themselves. The only thing is, it's been tested for decades and there's a very high margin of people who think that way.

It also goes into people being control freaks in a situation and how they'll abuse that power. It's really an interesting read.

So common sense may dictate that you're not supposed to do something like it...but statistics tell a darker tale...

If you remove rules and tell people that it's perfectly justified, of course they're going to do shit like this.

That's why there are rules.

It's just unfortunate that they are both lacking horribly and not being followedd here.

Yea, that's true...but there are rules as there ethics that could be construed as the very same, which that second article hits on. People don't really give that much of a shit about rules if they can get away with murder when the situation calls for it in their position of power.

If you didn't have ethics...well, I think we'd be in trouble as a civilization.

Then there are people who find loopholes, not knowing the consequences of doing so. Think of the major societies that have fallen becuase of that. It's not that there aren't rules and guidelines, it's that they're too ignorant to know what could happen by them by not following this.

Does that make sense?
