Yea, same here...
Well, once the real release gets here, I'll probably get it at some point.

Since I don't use Vista, I decided to read the comments (and I wasn't surprised at what I found), more trolling by Linux idiots:

I gave up and wiped Vista Ultimate 64-bit from my system just this past weekend (and I've been exclusively a windows user since Windows 3.0)

Instead, I set up DB with Ubuntu 8.10 and XP (for the couple of games I have). I Ubuntu for all my day-to-day. In fact, since last weekend I've only booted into XP once (to finish setting it up, actually).

Vista's pretty and all, but even after all this time (I bought and istalled ultimate the day it came out) it's felt very awkward. Little things like accidentally dragging files to the wrong folder, etc. Just tired of it.

accidentally dragging files to the wrong folder

@TadGhostal: how can you accidentally drag a file to the wrong folder? You have two folders open...drag one to the other. if there is a problem, its your fault.

This is pathetic.

Also this.

@TadGhostal:

Ah the inevitable thread hijack by one of the 0.8% of the world that uses linux jumping into a thread about Windows software. I think Ubuntu is cool too, but it has exactly what to do with this thread?

You know why folks using Windows don't hijack threads about some new feature in Ubuntu? Because we are glad you like your OS, find discussions about linux interesting even if we don't use it, and don't feel the need to derail your discussions about the latest distro to tell you that we prefer Windows.

Haha oh god the replies.

(Disclaimer: my opinion of Vista has actually changed in the past few months. Yep, it's the end of the world.)

That reminds me i need to install SP1 myself. I've been meaning to...
And yes, those comments...especially the first one you quoted. If you accidentally drag a file to the wrong folder it's your own damn fault.

I actually like Vista now. I'm getting more used to it and I've had no problems at all, except when Windows Movie Maker decides to take up 70% of the CPU publishing movies...

I'm not too excited for that. Not from what I've seen so far. However, the last time I saw much was probably a month ago, does it have anything more than Paint using the Ribbons, or does it all seem to be behind-the-scenes work, like programming changes?

Aside from massive performance boosts against Vista in its current form and the fact it's still in beta...the impressions are very much the opposite of how poor Vista's was.

Why wouldn't you? My OS felt a lot smoother after I upgraded to SP1.

Because updates have been kinda hit-or-miss for me. I mean, the first time I did one, it fixed all crashing issues I had (my uptime after that one was like 4 months). Oh yeah, and I like my uptime =P (and it's already running well for me, and I don't think I need to say the saying)

I'm thinking of setting up Vista again. I've heard some positive things about SP2 so far... Maybe I'll wait it out a few more weeks rather than finding out I've jumped on the 'derp train'...

Dunno, really.

Maybe I'm recalling wrong, but I'm pretty sure I've had programs not working properly after an update.

And when it's stuff like Cubase, which I used often, it sucks.

I'm kinda hesitant when it comes to Windows updates.
One broke our connection to the router.

I'm convinced that updating the OS has become, more than ever, merely an excuse to sell you things you don't need.

I'm using my current OS until all traces of compatible hardware for it vanish.

Well, yes, service packs are just 'there' and don't count. I mean changing OS versions, like, from XP to Vista.

I wouldn't get the Beta... mainly because SP1 is working, at least for me, near flawlessly (okay, so openTTD changing my monitor to 8-bit colour makes Vista think something doesn't work with Aero and thus Vista turns Aero off for me). I will get SP2 once it comes out properly, though. Knowing my luck, getting SP2 Beta would break a ton of stuff.

And on the side topic of liking Vista, I've liked it since SP1 came out
