The Tower of Trials: Group C - William, Kattwah, Darkdata, Sukasa

And without further ado (since there's been far too much already... ;;;;;;; )

The stairway was very long...could it be just one floor that it ascended?

When the four adventurers arrived at its top, they were met with a strange-looking floor. The tiles were painted yellow, with pipes running up and down the walls...

The floor was divided into several numbered square areas.

As the four stepped out from the stairwell, a large, spiked stone block fell from the ceiling, blocking their way back down. It seemed there was only one way left to go: up...

...I probably won't need to tell this group how to play (you've got Katty on your team, for goodness's sake! ), but if you're new to the game and not sure how to play, just pick a square. Only numbered squares are available for picking. You might find something good or you might find something bad...but you won't know until you choose!

The group finally got to the top of the stairs after a rather bizzare warp in the gamespace continuum, however it was really no matter. At the top, they were greeted with...

Kattwah: Well gee... where have I seen this before? Hah

He simply chuckles and walks across the room.

William: Well look at this room. Looks like I'm in Super Mario Bros 3.

He looked at the squares. It was odd for the first floor to have holes and the actual tiles numbered, but then again this was an odd tower. He decided to head to square 13 first. It was in the middle and would introduce him to the rules of this place. After all, he was in unnatural territory.

Not wasting any time, the four explore the floor.

Kattwah's luck...well, can't say it was good or bad, since he found nothing on his square.

William noticed a strange square shadow being cast on his square...maybe he should check what's casting it?

Sukasa, keeping an eye on Kattwah, noticed some coins lying on the ground with his other eye. He pocketed 5 of them.

Darkdata also got a little richer, finding 5 coins lying around.

Continuing their exploration, the four searched the floor for a way up the tower.

However, the group ran into their first obstacle here, as Sukasa bumped into an angry-looking Gumba! He took 2 points of damage from it.

William, searching for the source of the shadow, looked up to see the underside of a wooden box with a large "?" on the side, which was somehow floating in the air above him. He jumped to try and grab hold of it, but he only managed to hit the bottom of it...
...which caused the top to pop off and a small key to fall into William's grasp.

Kattwah's luck turned from bad to worse, as he ran into a Kuppa on his square. The Kuppa ducked into his shell and rammed into Katty, dealing 2 points of damage.

If Darkdata was happy with the 5 coins from his last square, then he'd probably be just as happy with the 5 coins he found on this one.

William: ...how odd. This shou--

He was cut short when he heard two enemies start attacking his team. With no idea who to strike first, he decided best to head over and attack the Gumba as he withdrew his sword and sliced it.

That weird feeling he felt before? It was still there. That swing felt weaker than before.

William: Yo, Darkdata! Might want to help Kattwah over there.

Faced by Gumbas and Kuppas, what do our intrepid adventurers do? Fight, of course!

William was first to strike, dealing 3 damage to the Gumba with his blade.

Darkdata's blast of Ice struck the Kuppa for only 1 damage, but did have the intended effect: the Kuppa was frozen into a solid block of ice...

...which Kattwah proceeded to thwack with a Superstrike mallet attack. The Kuppa was critically smashed for 7 more points of damage, which knocked it out. Instead of remaining there, however, the Kuppa began to fade into small, star-shaped twinkles of light, 98 in all. The Star Points split into two groups, 49 of them flying to each Darkdata and Kattwah, where they circled around the two before disappearing. 8 coins were also left on the square where the Kuppa once lay, which Darkdata and Kattwah split between them.

Meanwhile, Sukasa put the heat on the Gumba, scorching it for 4 points of damage and rendering it unconscious. The Gumba faded into 54 Star Points, which divided themselves between William and Sukasa, 27 each. 6 coins were also left behind, which William and Sukasa split evenly.

The strike didn't do as planned. In fact it seemed a bit... weak.

Nevertheless the cooperative efforts of Sukasa and William ended with the victory over the foe. What William was expecting was some form of spoils to appear before them, which was the coins. What he wasn't expecting was the star things to appear. They looked like they were from Paper Mario...

...oh no.

William: Great. Stuck under this ruleset this is going to be a lot harder than planned! Uh... I mean--

He held in his hand a small booklet that said "Script" and read from it in a monatone voice.

William: --hooray we defeated the enemy. These coins will help you on your wa-- oh screw it!

He threw the script behind him and talked to Sukasa as he walked away.

William: You know the drill with this more than I do.

William pocketed the coins and headed to Square 16, immediately checking the area.
