If you had looked at the other ones, the "start time" is just when the first post is put up.

It's more like one of the Brain Teasers threads, where you reply as soon as you can -- even if it's a day or so later. You don't have to reply within ten seconds (though it's usually best).

That's why all players are in a team and turns go "players -> enemies". If you want to do some battle combo thing like raising attack of a teammate for massive damage, just ask them to delete their post and have it after yours.

OOC: Late for the update...

The time had arrived. Everything was set to go. All that was left was to enter the Tower...

...

The twelve entered the doors and were met with a small lobby. On one wall hung a small sign reading "0F".

In the center of the room sat, oddly enough, exactly twelve stacks of 50 coins each, with a sign hanging above them reading "Take one".

Against the wall near the door stood a vending machine...
-Mushroom (heal 10HP): 10c
-Syrup (heal 10FP): 10c
-FireFlower (fire-based attack item): 10c
-Mystery (capsule containing a random item): 10c
-LifeShroom (restore a KO'd team member to 1/2 max HP): 50c

Three staircases led upwards from the room: one leading left, one leading right, and one leading straight forward.

Lying atop the stacks of coins was a note:
"Welcome, explorers, to the Tower of Trials! This is my test to you, one that I hope you will all find the strength, wisdom, and courage to complete. I hope these coins will be of use to you as you begin your journey up the Tower. Good luck to all of you!"
The signature was illegible.

OOC: Get some items and go on up the stairs...

Looks like there will only be 4 players per group, so 4 people per staircase, please.

Also a note about Mystery items: they count like using a healing item on a teammate would, so they can be opened at any time plus you can still do any other action. They can't be opened until after you've gone up one of the three staircases here, though... *Ninetales mumbles something about a magic seal on them or something

Sophie wasn't feeling very comfortable in this small room. She was reading the note next to the coins, but she didn't believe it was just supposed to be a "test".

"A... test? Someone went through all this trouble, built the tower in this area and everything, just to test us? I don't.. know about you guys, but, uh, I think there's something.. fishy here."

She didn't want to take the money at first, being too afraid of a trap of some sort, but she saw another person take one and he was just fine. "Considering what kind of stuff is awaiting us in that 'test'", she thought, "it's probably better if I take some.."

And so she did. Having 50c in her hands, Sophie proceeded to the oddly placed vending machine, where she not just wondered about which snacks she would get, she also wondered about what kind of freaking maniac the person behind everything here would be.

Looking at the various items, she noticed that her favorite snack was among them - Syrups. She always found them to be quite tasty.

"Ooo, Syrups! Maybe they'll help making me feel better a bit.."

Having said that, she threw in all her just acquired money, punched buttons, and excitingly awaited her items to fall down. Out came three Syrups, one Mushroom and one Mystery.

Sophie now proceeded to the stairs. "Three groups of stairs.. only meant for us to split up here.."

Having seen someone taking the right stairs, she figured she'd take the left ones. However, just before she was going to go up, she stopped and waited for a while. She couldn't do it alone, she was just too scared. She turned around and said in a low, frightened voice:

"I.. I'm going to take these stairs now. Is someone.. uh.. coming with me? ... please?"

Pandaren yawned and walked up to the coin bags. He tested one of them.

"Bah, they should have given more. I can't even a get a decent meal with this.

Pandaren stuffed the coins into his bag and walked up to the vending machine. He examined it for awhile... and then he proceeded to kick it. The machine let out an empty "klonk".

"Fifty coins. Hmh. Hey, you there."

Pandaren pointed at Sophie.

"You said you needed a comrade to watch your back? I can come with you then. Seems that you stacked some nice stuff with you, so I'll take this LifeShroom, just to be sure, allright?"

Pandaren stuffed the coins in and the vending machine belched out the mushroom. Then he walked to Sophie, giving a large smile at the others.

William saw it best to just shrug and go on.

After grabbing a stack of coins, William headed to the vending machine. Being the paranoid person he was, he decided it was best to spend his money on two Mushrooms, one Syrup, one Fireflower, and one Mystery Capsule. Something about that last one seemed like a good idea.

As the items were withdrawn he stuffed them in a pouch. Then he looked at the staircases. It seems three of them already chose a staircase, however none of them chose the center staircase.

William: ...eh.

He sat on the first step of the middle staircase and waited for the others to assemble in their respective groups.

Darkdata picks up one of the bags of coins and buys 2 Mushrooms, 2 Syrups, and a Mystery Box when all the items fall out of the Vendomagic9000^TM Darkdata drops them in his backpack.

Darkdata: Now what to pick... I know! I can use my magical 3 sided dice.. program!

Darkdata launches Dice.exe and punches in 1 to 3 and rolls...

Darkdata's Laptop: 2, now put me back in sleep mode.

Darkdata: Now don't be cranky... *He closes the Laptop*

He walks over to join William on the Staircase

Shiny new layout!

Kattwah hmmms and watches a few of the other people start to use the vending machine one by one. It seemed oddly familiar at the time, far too much like what had happened before... he had a feeling this was going to be one of those kinds of adventures. He shrugged to himself and waddled over to grab one of the money bags, whistling to himself. As soon as he walked over to the vending machine he realized the first problem of this whole ordeal.

Kattwah: ... Dag nabbit, why does the coin slot have to be so high? Or why do I have to be cursed with eternal shortness...

One rather comical scene later involving inhaling and floatng up with one coin at a time, he pressed the Lifeshroom button and reached in to claim his prize.

Kattwah: Better safe than sorry... I'll be getting more items anyway if my hunch is right.

With that he looked around, deciding on the middle set of stairs, waddling over and waving a stumpy hand at the other two, just to try to be friendly.

Kattwah: Name's Kattwah, I'm a drifter... who might you two be?

Naia stares suspiciously at the neatly stacked coinbags and vending machine. "Why would someone leave all this money lying around on the floor? For that matter, why would an ancient Gothic stronghold even have electricity? This all seems highly suspicious..." She picked up one of the bags and opened it. 50 coins, in three different denominations. "But... it's best not to look a gift horse in the mouth, hmm?" Naia approached the vending machine and pushed a few buttons. Three Syrups, a Mystery, and a Mushroom popped out. "That's better. Got to keep my magic reserves up, otherwise I'm pretty much helpless..." She looked at the three staircases in front of the bunch. "Let's see, there's twelve of us, now that our Almighty Silent Leader has sort of joined our group. Three stairs, so... I suppose it's best if we split up into three groups of four. I see the middle group is all ready, so I guess I'll head over to the left stairwell and give miss Sophie some moral support...
