Being accepted into the small group, Sophie couldn't help but expressing a smile, even if she still felt shy.

"Thank you! I.. wouldn't be confident enough to go in all by myself, I guess."

She looked at the other two, awaiting some sort of response, but they just smiled and nodded. They didn't seem to mind.

"You.. you're right, though. Judging from what I've heard.. the more people we are, the better."

Sophie turned around and took another look at that tower. "Just.. where did that thing come from? And why did it appear here?", she asked herself. But she figured that thinking alone wouldn't get her anywhere for now, so she turned back around and sat down next to William and the others.

After a while, more familiar faces started to show up. She already counted ten, if not more. Looking at all these people, she thought to herself: "Amazing how this tower attracts all these people.. If they all sense that something isn't right, then there just can't be anything good in there.."

She shook her head. "I.. need to stop thinking to myself that much."

"What.. what do you think? What do you think just is in there..?" she asked the people sitting next to her, hoping that talking to them will reduce her constantly growing uneasiness, at least for a little bit.

"Monsters, huh? ... That's.. not really what I'd like to see..", Sophie mumbled.

But it made sense. Sophie spent a while watching everyone, and the majority was preparing for a battle. Fighters, magic users.. people with many different abilities. Everyone looked like they were experts in fighting.

Sophie wasn't. She never battled anything, and she didn't really have any special talents, or abilities. Or at least she wasn't aware of such things. "What do I do if I get into a battle with a monster..?", she wondered. "I don't know how to fight. Not at all. I hope the others won't have to save me all the time.." She didn't want to be a burden. She figured that, if she would get into a fight, she would think of something to do.

She sighed and thought "I hope I won't be too much trouble for the others..", before laying down for a while, watching the sky.

Fate walked into her quarters, exhausted. The shower she had just finished was more than enough to help out the day's training.

"Huuuahhh..." she said, plopping the bed, face first. Cadet training was more intense than she suspected it would be. Bardiche, Fate's partner and weapon, alone, seemed to be completely drained after some of the drills they had done today. You couldn't tell by looking at it, save the fact it didn't look too hot in terms of the crack on it, but Fate certainly knew.

But she didn't quite know WHY she was pumping everything out against Chrono and...

"Why can't I be around Nanoha more...?"

She sighed, turning over. Bardiche was recovering on a desk next to her bed.

"Bardiche?"

Her partner blinked from its spot on the table. It was a triangular piece that seemed to reflect any light off of it. One would figure it'd look like a piece of a mini-Triforce. This one had a slight crack on it, however, likely from the day's work.

"Sir?"

"Are you okay after today?"

Another blink. "Yes, Sir. Reconstructing. Will be at full capacity at 0600, tomorrow."

Fate nodded. Whatever didn't kill her at this point would only make her stronger when it came down to it. She knew that she would have her chance to make that count someday soon. Maybe after they looked at finding all the Jewel Seeds they would find Nanoha and...

She ended that thought when she noticed something peculiar out of the corner of her eye. She looked up at the ceiling...and blinked.

She could swear that the ceiling was bending and---

That's when the ceiling exploded and a flash of light opened. Fate went wide-eyed, stunned. She was even more stunned when gravity began to act arbitrarily as she floated and the plunged upwards off the bed, taking the bed sheet with her.

"BARD---"

And with that, no Fate, no hole.

"Sir?"

Nothing. Bardiche flashed a few times. "Oh...SNAP!"

Fate felt like she was in one of those rides that you'd find at one of those amusement parks she'd rarely been to...she remembered this one that was named the Hurly-Whirl suddenly as she felt a whole wave of vertigo go through her as gravity started to act in any direction. She felt sick.

"Shouldn'tve...ate so...much at...huuughhh..."

Fate couldn't get any greener. Same with the canvas around her.

Then everything went dark for a moment and she felt gravity go in one direction. Straight down. She also saw ground now outside a night sky. There was things aside from that as well...

"OoooOOOOHHH SHH---"

Tree limbs and other brush snapped and crumbled under her dropping form until one final plop resulted in one very beaten up Fate. No better than a point-one landing, at best.

Getting her bearings straight, Fate pushed herself up, dizzied.

"Wh...who...where am I and who am I uhh..."

A tree limb slammed on her head a few moments later, from the wake she had created, knocking her senseless but not unconscious.

"ULP!"

This was not a good day. She remembered, aptly that, now.

Fate finally moved the large tree limb off of her and got up. She was sore, but she was alive.

She felt something was off. No Bardiche was a start.

That wasn't it though.

No Nanoha. Fate felt saddened, suddenly, over that.

She looked down.

She blinked and then said with a start:

"How the HECK did I get dressed that f...wh...hi?"

She shook her head, scratching it. Apparently, she was clothed now like she normally was. Something was really up and considering that the only real hint she had to go on was a looming tower that had its lights on...well, she figured that was a good place to start for an answer.

"This place reeks of treasure."

A girl, slightly taller than Fate, approached the group. Her face was covered by a wide grin.

"Yo!"

She had red hair, with orange streaks, that drooped out of a long, pink stocking cap. If that was not enough to hint to others that this was an odd person, the rest of her attire should have: A yellow neckerchief, in the style of a cowboy; a sleeveless pink shirt; a yellow miniskirt; a leather pouch hanging by her hips; a pair of oversized metal-and-leather gauntlets and boots.

"Ooh, I'm quite out of place! I must be the only one not directly representing his or her own namesake in Jul! I hope you guys won't mind."

She climbed onto the nearest boulder and held up her arms.

"With that being said, I am now inviting all of you into my party! It is a grand honor to be led by Lily Lilitin, treasure hunter extrodinaire!"

*Kattwah simply sits on his respective rock watching the various adventurers arrive, generally steering clear of too much interaction at this point. It had been a while since he had even thought about venturing back into one of these situations after the initial three Pit disasters - those had been sealed off permanently after multiple crews had disappeared off to a so-called "Dimension X". Since then the local residents had shunned his business practices and fresh exploration blood had been nonexistant. That didnt help the $40 million lawsuit, especially since all of his coins were exhausted from said previous expeditions.

That being said, the new development of the mysterious tower certainly brought new hope to his unfortunate predicament - he had been kicked out of his old base of operations only a month ago after frequent pestering from the government and other less... civilized organizations. He managed to save the important stuff though, including the mainframe housing the Ninetales AI Unit. Those were kept in a very safe and secure place at this point, unfortunately at the price of losing his portable perpetual energy source...

Speaking of...

Kattwah takes the sack of items off of the stick and peers inside, digging around with his stumpy arms before pulling out something very reminiscant of a gameboy."

Kattwah: C'mon... are there batteries in here... yep. Flip the security switch, input password... acquiring wireless satellite signal... Itentity accepted, connecting to 9TDATABASE.PIT... load faster dangit, we're going to need his help... again. Ninetales, you there?

Kattwah's device showed a black bar moving from the top of the screen downwards...it stopped at the center, making a sound similar to that of a coin being picked up.

...no other sound or motion came from the machine.

Pandaren snored deep in sleep. He wasn't really afraid of going into the instance - rather, he was afraid of sleeping past the whole adventure. He shifted in his sleep uncomfortably.

Sophie closely listened to what everyone was discussing. She was no talented speaker, so she let everyone else do most of the talk.

"10:00 this night, huh? ... All right..."

Something was wrong with her, though. She felt like she forgot something important.

"Oh, crap!" she accidentally shouted out loud. Some turned around and gave her a weird look, which made her feel somewhat awkward, but at least she didn't seem to wake up Pandaren and the other sleeping people.

"I.. I totally forgot that! Today's Lilly's birthday and I promised to show up on her party tonight...!", Sophie thought, feeling like an idiot for forgetting her sister's birthday. "What do I do now... I can't leave her hanging..."

"... Hey, uh, guys.. I, uh.."

Now she felt like an idiot because she couldn't be there in time. It was hard for her to find the right words.

"I, uh.. there is something I have to take care of, and... I probably won't make it in time tonight. I'm sorry.. maybe, uh.. you guys go in first and I'll try to catch up with you as soon as I can.."

Having said that, Sophie sat down again and hoped that nobody would really mind.

By the way, a quick question... how are the groups going to be set up? I mean, how is determined who goes on which group? Is it determined by posting order, or are the teams going to be (somewhat) balanced, in terms of stats? (Personally, I'd prefer the latter, but I'm fine with either way

)
