All around the world, certain computer gamers are getting ready for what they've been preparing for for months now. Cases of food and soda surround them. What are they preparing for? The new expansion to World of Warcraft has been released. If you don't see some of the people you know for a couple months, it's safe to assume they're still at their computer.

Well, at our store, we sold over 260 copies tonight. Good thing the credit card machine waited until around customer #180 or so to break.

Our credit card machine went down at customer #4. This is the same day that I lost another GA and an SGA and I have to work in the morning on my 10th year anniversary, and I have a headache and I bit my left side of my tongue hard, but didn't feel it until this morning, where it feels bruised.

Other than that, we had a Clerks 2 playing while we were waiting for midnight to hit. There's one guy who showed up at 7:00 to start the line. We had about 120 people.

Ouch, sorry to hear all that. We got 180 people in because that's about how many we pre-rang. The machine actually went down around 11:50ish for us.

I'm getting word that a LOT of people are getting bad installs from this. Some file isn't registering right or somesuch when it comes to them installing off their DVD Recorder drives.

Completely random.

One of my friends got an bad install disk and is going to ask it to be replaced.

On the other, me and two of my friends installed it perfectly.

Hopefully they put up the downloadable install disks soon.

I've played a shitload of this so far. Every waking moment since release has been spent playing this. I'm actually on a long flight right now so I have time to post this.

First of all, I am in love with what Blizzard has done so far. This expansion feels like a brand new entry to the Warcraft numbered series, because it has severe plot development in the actual storyline. One of the greatest things with this is phasing. I'll explain phasing in an easy way... (Be warned, slightly spoilery, but I won't use any names)

I turned in a quest in this town, and then an epic prerendered cutscene with voice (which never ever ever happens in WoW/BC) played and detailed an event occurring in the town with the Lich King. The town then is burnt to the ground by a certain race, and when you come back from the cutscene, the town is burnt. This is an MMO, so how does this work? Phasing. Everything looks different in that area to you then to others because you have completed a certain prerequisite. It works really well, and to even further the effect, another portion of phasing takes place where you are to walk in to one of the opposing sides main cities and talk to a leader. Phased of course, or else you would be destroyed by the NPCs there or players. You even perform a raid with tons of NPCs on a certain city that is normally a starting area for a race, and a major city for a certain side.

That's phasing and a few of its amazing uses, which all contribute to some amazing storyline development, so if you do do the questline, I highly reccomend paying attention if you have been following the Warcraft lore.

Another great thing about the expansion is the humor. There is a lot more of it then before, and a large amount of the quests are silly/fun/humorous. For example, to get back to a town, instead of walking, you are actually demanded by the quest to "Surf" a spear that flies through the air. Or, another one, where you have to mount a machine gun, call out to friends who are in hiding, and then mow down the NPCs who are chasing after them.

That's another thing, the new seige weapons and mount weapons are extremely amazing and provide a whole new possibility for tons of quests, and does. There is a ton of quests that instantly turn in to an action game because of it, and that kind of variety has driven me to play so much. I'm not playing to race to 80, getting there quickly only means you have to wait for others to level as well for end game content. I've been so damn hooked because of how fun each and every quest is. That, and because so many people are out there doing them all at the same time, the player interaction and grouping makes it all even more fun. Wrath of the Lich King is game of the year material.

Tidbits: I started the line at 8:56 at my GameStop. 4 minutes later, the store closed, and people waiting for the game walked out of the store and got behind me. I ate Taco Bell (Aquired by my friend Emily who waited with me the whole way) and chatted with people about changes and met several women who cleared even more content then I did in Burning Crusade, more knowledge then even me (They were skinny and cute to boot! Everything about stereotypes that we know is wrong!)! It was a blast though, so much fun and rewarding. The store gave out leftover Wrath posters (Approx. 5 of them, I got one, it's huge and on my wall (Double sided too )!) and big packs of gum and warheads. GameStop midnight openings are the shit

Time to get sucked back in to the game...(Oh, and I'm a level 73 Rogue named Hajitsu on Sargeras)

Depends.

If you can get a friend to play with you, you can get 3x experience points by linking both of the accounts. The start is bit boring, but it gets better in the end.

In other news, server queues have skyrocketed on many active servers, forcing Blizzard to open up more new realms with free server transfers to said new realms.
I'm sitting on a 786 queue for Kel'Thuzad right now, 40 or so minutes until I can log in.

Bad times.

(my experience with WoW has proven that while it is a very good game all around, it becomes somewhat boring and repetitive rather quickly. though that likely stems from the many alts I end up creating and the lack of reliable friends to play with..)

Yeah, most of the older servers (the ones which have been around since the start) are totally screwed up.

That's why I leave my WoW open, macro Stormstrike to be pressed every 10 seconds and leave him to beat the training dummies. Heh.

EU or US? Server?

We could link our accounts and then level up together. 3x experience points, granting levels and summoning the friend helps alot

I have a US account currently, but I've been thinking about buying the EU version if and when I come back to the game.. I just seem to know more people on the EU side of the world that are playing for some reason.

That's a pretty tempting offer too.. I might just take you up on that at some point. 3x EXP would really help with getting out of those annoying low levels that I've done a bajillion times before. (well, they're not that bad really.. I've just done them so much they've lost most of their charm.)

Hmh, nice. Depending on where you live, EU might be a bit laggier choice for you and I'm a bit concerned on the timezones, if we want to level together. Anyways, here's some info on the 3x experience thing:
