This story just doesn't add up though...

Considering the background, it just sounds like the kid snapped like Ned Flanders on a bad, bad day.

At least they aren't blaming the videos games initially, but just that fact that they're in the story is dumb. Who cares that he went back to play the games? :\

I think the only reason video games are even mentioned is just to give context as to what he did. It would be like saying he went to the mall.

Saying he went there to play them immediately rules out the idea that he went there to tell them about what happemed or anything.

Blumberg said Browning had disruptions in consciousness, memory and perception on the night of the killings and that Browning indicated he was in "a trancelike state." The psychiatrist also testified that relatives and friends told him they had seen Nicholas' parents abuse him. He said the family had a history of alcoholism and that John, Tamara and Nicholas abused alcohol.

The best part is that I fucking called this. I saw the photo, read the headline, and said "You know what? I bet there's alcohol involved in this."

Sure enough...

When you mix alcohol and families, you get abuse. When you mix families and abuse, you get people who snap.

And then you get this.

You can tell by the look on the teen's face that he wasn't happy and that something was wrong. The smile is fake and just overall he looks distant.

They said, psychologically, he was fine.

I would think otherwise, since it looked as though he was one of those people that didn't say much and obviously had a plan towards getting what troubled him out of his life. Probably cracked under the stress. I'm pretty sure people've had similar thought about sibling/parents in their weak moments too...he just went through with it all the way and didn't care to think of the consequences.

I hope you guys aren't blaming the victims. Sure, they abused him. Sure, they made him snap. However, there were better ways to take out his frustration. I especially doubt his younger brothers were also abusers. This kid is a twisted wacko who, while fucked by his circumstances, was unable to not resort to horrible violence.

Although, I agree. Alcohol is a horrible drug which does horrible things to people. It is so sad that we live in a society which encourages the excessive consumption of what is basically a poison to the mind. That, and encourages boys to not show their emotions.

"If boys don't cry tears, they'll cry bullets." That is one sad reflection on North American culture.

I find it kind of hard to pity a victim that seems to have deserved it.

Perhaps not "deserved it" as much as "brought it upon themselves".

Big surprise here. They saw these things happening, probably for years, but (apparently) didn't do anything about it? Or just didn't try very hard?

Looks like yet another tragedy that could have been prevented if certain people had decided not to just "mind their own business" for once.
