OK, I obviously don't have a PS3 but I've been intrigued by LBP. It looks extremely unique and fun and would be a day 1 purchase for me if I had a PS3. It's a highly anticipated title, it's been getting critical praise, people are foaming at the mouth to get their copies...

...and they'll have to wait a little longer because a licensed music track in the game has Qur'an references in it and Sony decided they had no other alternative but to recall the game. So it's not coming out next week, sorry.

(And yes, I do believe that using verses from the Qur'an in things such as music is considered offensive, so that's just a major mess-up on everyone's part. Think someone might have noticed this in testing?)

More info here.

...lol...

I know people already like the game so maybe they should hold onto the copies they have for mint value when it comes down to reselling it on eBay or similar 15 years from now.

That sucks.

Oh well. LBP is going to be grand as it is due to customization. I can wait longer for such awesome things.

Yes, LBP is worth the wait, and besides, I doubt editing/replacing a single music track would really take all that long.

We have copies of LBP in my back room at this moment in time. I am tempted to keep one, but I don't want to mess up my inventory. I'm waiting for the e-mail to tell us to ship them back.

That sucks... That'd be quite a collectors item in a few years you know... :/

Actually, the designers had a quick patch all ready to go which would be automatically applied on the release date.

Of course, the problem is that some people, shockingly, don't have an internet connection, so... yeah.

I bet most people, after hearing said song, would either not even know where its from or even care that it is there. It's not like this is the first time something religious was put/mentioned/used in a game before.

True but all it takes is one complaint. :\

It's dumb but Sony didn't have any choice on the matter. Apparently it's really bad to use ANY Qur'an verse in that type of context.

Big surprise. You so much as look at the Qur'an wrong, and someone's gonna try to blow you up.

GET KRATOS OUTFIT AND OTHERSOMESUCH WHEN YOU PRE-ORDER AT GAMESTOP!

Too bad I'm still not really sold by this game yet... :\

That's what's weird...you can have a game like God of War out there but you can't have lyrics in a song that people don't give a shit understanding.

Well, you also don't want to flip off your entire Middle East fanbase along with others. Sony has a big market presence there, apparently.

It's understandable. It's questionable, sure... but imagine the crap that would occur if the game was released and THEN someone found the quotes.

As the token Mosey, I guess I'll have to weigh in on this issue.

Like many Muslims, I really don't care whether the games I play are "offensive". They're just games.

And as far as music and Islam, it would be stupid to ignore the several works by musical geniuses like Ali Farka Toure and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan among others... What a weak argument to say you're offended by the inclusion of music in a game that has Quranic references.

Lastly, I find THIS article to be significant:

The patch was released for those who got the game early due to stores breaking dates.

The compromise is that the track in question was replaced by an instrumental version.

The power of LBP is hilariously awesome.

I am so contemplating getting a PS3 just so I can mess around in this.

The tutorials are hilarious too.
